Gaining weight rapidly!

Hello

I am gaining weight rapidly again.

Here is my situation, I am eating healthily, however I am bed bound again, due to an ankle injury. I lost 18 pounds in 3 weeks, with 14 in the first 2 weeks with a sole source diet.

I have gained 7 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I drink about 8 pints of water, go to the bathroom twice per day, could this be a factor?

Total Cal intake per day, 1812. I eat the same things, so I know.

I am losing the inches, slowly, 1/2 inch in 2 weeks. 6 inches total.

You are eating more calories than you are burning.

I'm not sure I understand your post. You're gaining weight but losing inches?

If you have stopped your physical activity due to your injury, but you're continuing to eat the same things, then yeah, you're probably going to gain weight. When your activity slows, you have ot reduce what you eat. It's pretty much that simple.

I think your miss understanding, I am eating less alot less but gaining weight alot faster, not going to the bathroom as much for a pee. Only twice per day. I have water tables from the doctor and I lose the weight, I am holding on too my water, but why?

I agree with Kara...less activity and you will gain weight or atleast maintain weight. I think you might have something wrong with your bladder situation. Maybe I just pee alot, but I drink approximately 90-120oz of water a day...not sure what that is in pints, but I pee probably 6-9 times a day. To me, it sounds like some of your weight might be water retention. If it concerns you, talk to your doctor. It's very possible your medication is having a major player in it too. It doesn't hurt to ask. But if you ask anyone, ask a professional...and most of us here aren't professional just speak from experience.

Ask your doctor why you aren't using the restroom more frequently.

Body Fat % is a much better fitness indicator than overall weight anyways.

There is a reason why I have so high intake of calories, I am on very strong set of pain killers which I have to eat with or just after food.

Which I have half a chicken breast and a wrap which is just 250 cal. However I have 4 of these per day. I then have 2 glasses of milk or 2 yogurts which is about 150 cal and I have a 500 cal meal. Reason, If i don't I could end up in hospital being very ill with the strength of painkillers, could rip thought my stomach without food.

So, either eat food, or spend months in hospital.

There is no cal in water right? I mean Tap water? Which has stuff added?

Well, might I suggest one thing? Focus on reaching your maintaining calories. Stop looking to lose weight and you know, even if you gain a few pounds, it's ok. You are injured. your body needs those calories to help you recover. Maybe now isn't the time to create a calorie debt.

Sounds like your wanting answers when you already know them. Am not sure what to suggest as you seem to already know where your at and whats going on. I am sure you are more then aware of the equation more calories going in then coming out means weight gain, with that in mind the only way your going to lose weight is to reduce your calories- same goes even if you were working out as exercise can only make a finate difference to your weight and size. With that in mind I'd suggest you ask your doctor about your food intake and if he/she can advise on what to do in terms of calories.

Just as I am confused, why is it the calories your doctor is interested in and not the types of food? normally they advise something to 'line your stomach' and cushion the blow of any medication. A high complex carb diet with essential fats may help more then easily digested foods like yogurt or refined carbs but thats just my assumption- please check it out before following as I am NOT medically trained! Maybe ask a nurse also as they tend to know more then the doctors about diet in many cases, especially if they are ward based (rather then surgery based)
