Gaining instead

I need help. I just had my second child 8 months ago and I can’t seem to loose any weight, in fact I’m gaining. I have been exercising and changed my eating habits but every time I get on the scale before my workout, I have gained a pound or so since my last weigh in. I don’t understand what’s going on. I’m starting to think it’s a waste of time but I really need to loose this weight. Please help.

hmm can u tell us more about ur exercise routine and eating habits? have u checked how much calories u're supposed to have each day? cos if u're eating more den the calories u need den by exercising u're just burning off the excess calories.. thus u'll need to exercise even more for weight loss to occur..

I wouldn't say more exercise is the best answer.

I would like to hear what kind of exercising you are doing first off.

Secondly, and definitely more importantly, do you have any idea how many calories you are consuming?

Calories are energy. If you consume more energy than required by your body, you will store it in some form or another and you will experience said weight gain.

Just the opposite, if you are consume less energy than required by your body, you will lose tissue in some form or another to make up for the energy deficiency.

In a nutshell, this is the driving force behind weight loss, and obviously pretty important. Have you seen fitday.com?

I tried tracking my calories and workouts on sparkpeople.com but I still gained. It had me eating about 1500 calories a day and aerobics 30 min 3 times a week and lifting 4 times a week. I had my thyroid checked to make sure that wasn't my problem but it came back normal. I have also been reading all the advice I can find, including subscribing to Fitness magazine and reading "Make over your Metabolism". I am just so frustrated. I want to loose this weight so bad, but why kill myself working out and deprive myself of junk food if it's only going to make me gain more. I even tried flipping my diet around and eating a larger breakfast and less portion for dinner, but nothing. Not sure what else to try. I was looking at the weight loss patch but I really don't want to revert to drug, but if it works I will. Please advice.

If you are in a caloric deficit, assuming there are not physiological/medical issues at play here, you WILL lose tissue. It is that simple.

If you are gaining weight, you are certainly in a caloric surplus. Again, assuming there are no other issues at play.

What are your stats and how long were you eating at 1500?
