Gained 6(!!) pounds after indulging 1 day

hey all,

I am a recent college football lineman who is now retired. When I finished playing, I was 290 lbs. after about two months of heavy excercise and dieting, I now sit at 250. I left yesterday to go on a vacation with my family for the weekend with the plans to not really have any limits, but not go overboard. I ate pretty heavy yesterday and woke up this morning at 256 pounds, which is 6 pounds heavier than I was yesterday morning. Needless to say I kind of freaked out. Is there a reason behind this?
 
Hey Jack. We are almost the same weight. Well, with me alcohol had this bloating effect where I retained a ton of water and my weight would shoot up like crazy. Also times of day you weigh yourself makes a difference. Always do it in the morning. I have mostly quit drinking because that exact thing was going on with me. I would just get back on that horse and keep driving on. Don't feel bad for having some fun with the family and indulging a bit. You are doing f#cking awesome losing the weight you did! Don't let that get you down. You are doing great.
 
Though I am certainly not an expert by any means, I would have to say that "6lbs" is mostly water weight. Same thing happens to me, it might take a couple days to level back out again. Usually more excercise, and sitting in the sauna helps me feel better.. though it won't immediately show the results you want on the scale.
