Fun Places to Meet People?

What are some fun activities/places to meet people?
I am very limited in the friend department right now. I lead a very busy life with work, going to the gym, and riding my horse (5-6 days a week). I really can't do too much during the week because of this but I really want to do stuff during the weekends.

The problem is that the only thing that I can think to do on weekend evenings (in the middle of winter) is bars or clubs and I don't like doing that. I don't drink and drunk people piss me off. I don't smoke or do any drugs.

So what are some fun ways to meet people. I would love to meet a great guy but I am also looking for friends as well.
I am in my 20's and obviously a girl. Any ideas would be great!

Find an activity that interests you - and you'll not only do a good deed, but you might meet some people who share similar interests.

Volunteermatch.com is a fairly large site in the US that has tons of different oppportunities -Not sure if they have Canada in their lists but you could check.

Take a class - preferably one that's active based - like a cooking class, or a wine tasting class or just something that interests you...

Join - or start - a group - like a walking group, or a hiking group.

Book club...

I actually have been wanting to take a photography course but unfortunately it's very popular and it's full all the way up until June. I think I will sign up for that though.
Hmm, volunteering, didn't really think of that
 
Plus volunteering also looks good on a resume...

If photography is something you enjoy - go to galleries that have photography exhibits and see other people's work for ideas for your own work...

Take your camera and just head outside and start taking pictures.. post them on photo websites for critiques from others (there are plenty out there)
 
Thanks, tho I own my own business so I don't really need a resume (atleast not at the moment).
