Sport fruit pwo

Sport Fitness
Use the sugar to replenish muscle glycogen if you want, usually a 2:1 ratio of sugar to protein powder. But, it MUST be dextrose, maltodextrin or a mix of the two. Plain table sugar is NOT THE RIGHT STUFF. Fruit doesn't work well either[B/]...again wrong kind of sugar.

i always thought that fruit pwo was ok... people told me that.
i usually have 1 serving of whey with a bananna and some apple juice in the blender....
would it be much more beneficial to buy some dextrose, seeing that fruit doesnt work well?

Depends on your routine, what your current nutrition is, etc. Whey and Dextrose is the easy safe route to go though.

Fructose does NOT elevate blood sugar to the extent other simple sugars such as dextrose does. Thats the main reason why its not great for a PWO.

I recently got some dextrose, but before I got it I found that orange juice worked really well. Not sure if its good to be having orange juice, but i started improving much faster than i had previously. Havent been using dextrose long enough to come to see how it effects me.

il put the money down for the dextrose. anybody have a hookup on where to buy it CHEAP? i can always go to suppliments.com or ebay but can someone give me an idea of how much it should be before i go and get ripped off?

Around $4. It's so cheap that there is no reason not to buy it. This is the one I use. The 2LB bag lasts a while. Most supp stores carry this. It is from NOW FOODS. They have tons of organic stuff. I also use their psyllium husks in my PWO shake.

a lot of breweries carry it and sell it for pretty cheap.

bodybuilding.com is a rip off, all of their stuff is overpriced, imo of course

vitaglo.com has it pretty cheap, 2.50 or so I believe for the two pounder, or 15 lbs for 20 bucks, I'm pretty sure, at least last time I checked, type in dextrose in the search bar

dpsnutrition and bulknutrition have it as well.

The last time I got mine I got it for a few cents over one dollar per pound at a brewery.

Make sure that you really need it though, what is your current training program Protein boy?

i am training pretty hard with free weights. when i am going to use the dextrose, i am going to be doing heavy weight training 3x5 and 1x5. its the riptoe strength program. but after that im likely to do some size training...4x6...3x8...3&4x10...i use a lot of rep ranges. training sessions usually 3 times a week. very light cardio 2-3 times a week. training under 1 hour. all i use is whey right now.

anything else you have to know?
my diet is quite good.

bodybuilding.com is a rip off
Of couse it is. I was just giving an example, not a list of sales and coupons.

anything else you have to know?

What do you mean ?
I know alot of guys who use 50% dextrose 50% maltodextrin for their carb/sugar resupply in their PWO shake. That's 50/50 for 100% of the carbs, not 100% of the drink.

since she asked me what my current training program is, i told her and asked if it was sufficient.

i found the dextrose that i want but i have another problem. my mother doesnt want me to get it because she thinks i will become diabetic. she said that long term use of refined sugar raises chances of becoming diabetic. she tells me to just use Orange juice or apple juice. i told her its not the same and how it helps but she isnt listening.

what i want to know is: is she right that dextrose is 'bad' for you? i only want it for a pwo shake 3 days a week...will that really affect any health aspects?

dextrose is just corn sugar...

I use malto and dextrose in my pwo shake too. Just dex is pretty friggin sweet.

Well with your training program if you are in a surplus you don't have to freak out and have the dex, you can get by with just regular good ole whole food. And I only mention it in the first place if getting Dextrose is a problem for you.
Not everyone needs it, there is a different between NEEDED dextrose and using it as a source of recovery as insurance.

Basically I would refer to my article on PWO Nutrition...

As far as the issue with your mom...

It takes a lot more to create a diabetes problem than a sweet PWO shake.
In general a unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle is the big culprit. If you need real hardcore facts on it let me know, otherwise tell you mom that the physical activity you are doing alone will make you ten times more healthy, not unhealthy.

:D alright. thanks a lot theleip. i think she will let me get it sooner or later. she did not want me getting whey at the beginning either lol.

she said that long term use of refined sugar raises chances of becoming diabetic. she tells me to just use Orange juice or apple juice

That is if you are continuously at a high insulin level. That argument is not comparing apples to apples. And orange/apple juice is has fructose. It's not the same kind of sugars.
