Weight-Loss

I have conflicting information on whether eating fruit is a deterrent when trying to lose weight . I have cut all other sugars from my diet, I only drink water, and all white foods have been eliminated. I eat mostly veggies, fruits, chicken, fish, and oatmeal. I would really hate to give up fruit, so i would like to know if anyone has any info. Thanks!

Total calories consumed during the day that matter.

Make fruit work in your day...

You know for some reason it never occurred to me that fruit had calories. I know it sounds dumb, but I always thought the caloric value of fruits were negligible. Well thanks for a new perspective! I have some calorie research to do!

Sounds less like a diet, more like a cult responsibility.

Again, read the stickies and previous threads on similar topics.

One thing I'd recommend for beginners: don't cut your diet drastically, you're setting yourself up for failure. Eat in moderation, lower useless calorie consumption (do NOT cut out completely) and most of all have fun with it.

Small, life-changing steps to better health is the key. The weight loss is a bonus.

Why cut out sugar?

And you realize that the carbs you are eating all get broken down into glucose, right?

The oatmeal, the fruits, etc.

Glucose = Sugar

Fruit is fine. It is way better than regular sugar, and still even better than the sugar substitutes.

I've eating fruit, and sometimes a lot of it, it doesn't effect me one way or another. Like was said, it is all about calories.

I guess I should have been clearer. By saying "sugar", I meant refined sugar, sugar substitutes, cakes, candies, sodas, etc. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't slowing down my progress by eating fruit since it is broken down as sugar(fructose). Thanks for the info and links. I have a lot of reading to do!

Fruit is awesomes. Anything that grows and can be eaten as its grown is pretty awesomes.

I find that link ironic. Starting an article about how people are wrong because there is no foundation for what they are doing by stating how he uses intermittent fasting as part of a healthy diet makes my brain hurt.

There are so many other small things wrong with the article that are bothersome considering the overall point he is making is true.

I was gonna make a thread about pseudo-science, but just writing it gave me a headache. The problem is the things that have already been shown to be ineffective and even harmful are still touted and people ignore the truth in place of whatever belief they have in the concept or the creator of the concept.
