so, just wanting some opinions -

is it okay for me to eat a small portion of fruit (around 70-80 calories worth... which is about 15-20 grams carbohydrates) at 6:30 p.m. at night?

note that I go for half hour walks with my mom around 7 p.m., so maybe this helps a bit with burning off the sugar?

I mean, will the complex carbs have a chance at hindering weight loss if everything else I'm doing is on track?

You'll be fine. There's no magic time to eat food so it burns less, it's really the total of your calories for the day you should be looking at. Anyway, it's always a good time for fresh fruit!

Depending on who you ask, fruit sugar (fructose) is either incredibly evil, or perfectly safe. lol. But it is generally agreed that if it is harmful, it is in pretty high quantities. So as long as you arent going overboard and eating an all fruit diet or something, you should be just fine. and when it comes to fat loss, as tomble mentioned, it is your total calorie consumption versus total calorie expenditure over time that matters. The only halfway decent reason to not eat later at night is as a calorie reduction method for those people who are night eaters and cannot eat in moderation at night. setting a certain time that you dont eat after will help reduce total calories. It is still a conflicted method however, as it doesnt really target the root of the problem. anyways im rambling now, so short answer, yes a small serving of fruit at 630pm is just fine for you.

Yeah... I thought that eating later gave you less time to burn the immediate energy the food produces and causes your body to store that energy as fat.

it doesn't matter whether you eat your calories during the run of a day or all at 11pm at night.

all that matters is you take in less than you burn.

I always have a snack around 9-9:30.

I find that I don't sleep well if I eat not long before I go to bed. I also wake up feeling more groggy and cloudy-headed.
