I like having a lean cusine meal or a lean pocket for dinner, Ive heard processed foods like these can be bad..
Anybody have any thoughts on the nutritional value of these?

they're really high in sodium, which isn't always good for you - can lead to water retention and bloating - and if you look at some fo the ingredients, like the pastas - they don't use whole grain pasta but plain pasta which isn't as good for you.. Amy's and Kashi both have a line of frozen dinners that are a little higher nutritionally

I suppose calories wise, they're ok - and theree are worse things you could have in a pinch... but home cooking is better...

Well it's not as good as having a salad which is full of raw veggies but if you are in a hurry it's much better than eating something really bad.

The Lean Cuisine Spa Meals (blue package) have whole grains.

The weight loss program I am on (you probably haven't heard of it) doesn't allow any grains and so I am trying to find microwave meals that are just meat and non-starchy veggies.

So far the best I've found is Healthy Choice's Kung Pao Chicken with Brocolli. I pick out the peanuts and the water chestnuts to cut down on the carbs.

yea the convience factor is what I look at, plus they are always really cheap.

I actually only eat one kind of lean cusine meal its the potato, broccoli, and cheese meal.. and i only eat 2 kinds of lean pockets broccoli and cheese, and the four cheese... im a vegetarian. But its only like a couple nights a week... the high protein amounts are what originally attracted me to them.

so all extra sodium does is bloat you temporarily? because that really isnt a concern to me.. I wasnt sure if it had other harmful effects or prevented weight loss or something..

if you've got high blood pressure, it does have an effect on that -- the RDA for sodium is about 2300mg a day -so you really want to try to stay within those limits.
