from CM to fot and inches

When you say for example im 5'8
you mean 5 fot and 8 inches, right?
But it not the same as 5.8 foot?
so when i want to chage something from cm to foot and inches, how do i do it? :p
 
The correct notation is 5'8". This signifies you are 5 feet, 8 inches. 5.8 is not the same thing, because .8 is 80% of 10. This system is measured by incriments of 12. 8 inches is ~67% of 12 inches.

To convert, 1 inch is roughly 2.54 cm. So you take

5 feetx12 inches=60 inches+ 8 inches= 68 inches x 2.54 cm=

Your height in cm.

1 inch is 2.54 cm.

So if you want to change 211cm to inches...

211 divided by 2.54 = 83 inches.

there are 12 inches in a foot. So to get feet and inches...

83 (inches) divided by 12 = 6 foot, with 11 inches remaining (6'11")
 
Its probably easier to convert it into base of feet - ie 5'6" = 5.5 feet.

then convert into cm = 5.5 x 30 = 165cm.

Then into metres 1.65m.
 
It gets a little more difficult when the inches aren't 0, 2, 3, 4, or 6.
