Hi, I'm 16 years old and ive been doing some hard lifting for the past 5 months now in the gym. In the past, I was an exeptionally fit athlete and in 8th grade i was able to bench 205 and i only weighed 132 pounds and ran a 5.2 in the 40 yard dash. but, as i progressed into high school, I was overloaded with the new school and classes, and i wasnt able to get into a conditioning class for my freshman year. so during 9th grade I basically lost everything i worked hard to achieve and became a little flabby and out of shape. But in 10th grade I started getting back into it. I signed up for conditioning and started working out. Initially, i was VERY disappointed in myself, because I realized that alot of the kids that i used to out-muscle had caught up to me, since i hadnt done ANY working out for the past year. But as time progressed on in 10th grade, I got back into my groove and quickly recovered most of the muscle that i lost. Later that year, after conditioning was over. I got myself an LA Fitness membership, and took working out more seriously. the older guys who worked out there motivated me to try my best in lifting weights and to not slack off and never miss work out days. After nearly 4 months of workingout there, i realized that i bulked up ALOT(all of my old clothes is very tight on me now), got very fit, and learned alot about nutritioning and dieting.(BTW im 16, weigh 148 pounds, 5"6, and can bench 250 pounds, my triceps are SUPER ripped ) well, thats just MY story.
I have a close friend who is kind of a hypocrite. he acts like hes a real "badass" who loves listening to metal and tries to insult the pants off of anyone he knows and loves to try putting them down and telling them about their flaws.(but hes never really looked at himself) he'd always try teasing me for going to the gym and working out, mockingly calls me a "Mr. Big time fitness-guru"(haha...). ANYWAYS, he would always talk trash about other people. saying that they're, "stupid wannabe gangster pricks" or "stupid wannabe jocks" and would always say that he'd like to "beat the living s_it out of them". the problem with him is that he hasnt even actually done any real working out or sports for the past 2 years and is a sophomore in highschool. and alot of the people that he thinks he can "beat-up" can most probably beat HIM up.
anyways, recently he began opening up to me, and telling me that he wanted to get muscular like me. so i told him to either try taking some supplements or proteins, or just do some plain old hard work in the gym for a few months. Well, he basically rejected all of the advice that i gave him, and went STRAIGHT to saying, I WANT TO TAKE STEROIDS. After hearing this, i advised him to not take it and that at the age of 16, and that it will seriosuly mess him up big time. but, he kept insisting that hes going to do it, and that he already got a supply of pills coming in by the next week. the problem with this is that, not only is he 16, but he has NO CLUE about nutritioning and dieting, and barely studied up on the steroids hes taking(he only read the information label of his steroids, but we all know that those kind of labels only try promoting the product and dont actually tell the cons of them...). I believe he ordered some steroids called Cetabon.
recently i talked to a couplke of much older fellas at the gym and they told me a large amount of information about steroids and how it can ruin his life, physically and mentally.
I really am worried about the choice he is about to make, and im afraid hes going to make a bad choice in life by taking these steroids. i just want to hear some advice from some people about what would happen to him if he began to take them, and what should i do. Should i tell his older brother to try stopping him?(yea, some bestfriend i would turn out to be) Or should i just keep telling him that it's not worth it, and have my advice be completely ignored/insulted by him?
