Sport Fresh and Frozen vegetables.

Sport Fitness
I have recently started a workout routine and better eating habits. With that, I have been eating lots of vegi's and fruits too. However, I have been buying the frozen vegi's because they are easier to keep and cook (just put in water and microwave). Now, obviously Fresh vegi's are better, well, because they are fresh!

But am I at a huge disadvantage because I am eating frozen instead of fresh?

Nope. Not at a huge disadvantage at all. Keep eatin' them veggies :)

The thing with canned veggies is they have to perserve them and what they perserve them with is usually not the greatest for your body. If you must get canned veggies go with no/low sodium ones and really wash and drain them before you cook them.

I see.. I prefer my veggies fresh of course, but stuff like beans, lentils, corn etc. I usually get canned only. I didn't know that there are low/no sodium ones, how do they preserve them if there is no sodium included? If it goes without why do they add it at all? Thanks for the info by the way.

Well sodium isn't the only method they use for preserving. For the most part they sterilize the veggies with high heat to keep them from being contaminated. This process itself does not damage to many nutrients. But the sodium and at time other mixtures they do is what you want to try and keep less on. I for the most part try to cook my beans and lentils fresh, however sometimes you just can't so I give them a good long run under water before i add to my cooking and never use the "juice" thats in there. Just helps cut back some.
