Hi guys, I have been steadily trying to eat above the 1,000 calorie mark since I have been going back to the gym. I track all that I eat and it's several times a day but I never seem to get to the suggested 1800 that I have set for myself. Always about 1,000 give or take. I try to eat good stuff, chicken, tuna fat free meats, vegetables, fruit.......Should I force myself? I just am not hungry, and I really hate that real FULL feeling it makes me sick a little.

Thanks.

Doesn't sound healthy to me... what's your stats?

I think you should focus on adding in more calorically dense stuff. Won't take up as much room in the stomach but pack a caloric punch.

High fat foods can accomplish this.... think peanut butter, extra virgin olive oil, fish oils, nuts, etc.

Are you eating carbs outside the confines of fruit and veggies?

I thought that you should keep those things, pb, olive oil etc to a min. because thats what your trying to get rid of, fat. Well I am trying to get rid of fat.

I try not to eat many refined carbs if I can help it. It usually comes in the form of bread or chips. not very many mind you but still.

I am 6 foot, 253lbs and I am 31. Additionally I like long walks on the beach and rock music. :) Just kidding. Those are my stats.

At the Gym I try to do strength or weights for 20 minutes then I do cardio for 20 or 30 then I finish with more weights. I usually only stay for about an hour working out.

Can I change anything? Oh and yeah I am trying to lose weight.

Thanks guys.

Dietary fat, or fat in the foods you eat, does not lead to fat on your body.

It's a common misconception, yet, it's very important to understand. Excess energy (calories) leads to body fat. Our bodies are constantly using calories to function. At the same time, we put calories into our bodies when we eat. If we put more in than we use, we gain weight. If we put less in than we use, we lose weight.

Simplified, of course, but it's pretty much how things work.

Fat isn't evil. And not all fat is created equal. I'd say having 20-30% of your calories come from fat is a good thing.

Well that makes enough sense, thanks for the info. Definitely good to know.

I lost a pound. I am happy but sad because it kicked my ass to lose it. lol.

A lot of people look at fat as the devil of nutrition...but it can be beneficial
