For light/weak guys needing help - some of your questions asked here :D

Well, I've noticed a lot of topics from guys around 14,15,16 (my age) posting about their situations which have resulted in letting themselves go, or feeling weak. This is basically a thread in which I'll try my best to help you out, you could called this a general summary of what you should do.

To start with, weight lifting will not stunt your growth. This is a myth. It can cause you injuries, no question, but it does not directly 'stunt your growth'. I'm around 5ft 11/6 ft, and I've been exercising for 5 years, since I was 10. This has included weights, especially in the past year. I have, in no way, stunted my growth. And I can name off many other people who do weights and are taller than me.

Secondly, just because your small/light now, does not mean you will be like that in five years time. People hit puberty at such different rates/speeds that some kids will always be much bigger than others. Your not weaker than them just because you haven't developed as fast.

So to get to the basics:
4 things will determine how successful you are on your workout program.

1) Dedication
2) Diet
3) Workout
4) Rest

Basically, if you do not have belief in what you are doing, and are not commited, you will not suceed. Simple. You have to want it.

Diet is a HUGE factor in your quest for becoming bigger. Without a good diet you will get nowhere. Try and have 6 meals per day, and please, cut out the crap in your diets. Not saying you can't have it, but excessively is a great big no. Eating lots of good foods, keeps your metabolism high, and fuels you workouts. High protein foods such as lean meats, are fantastic. Other than that eat lots of carbs. Pastas, rice etc.

Your actual workout should stick to a full body 3x per week. Search around this site for details.
Not having a gym is not the end of the world. Just buy some freeweights and make your own workout. Also work on your core and flexibility. Core strength is one thing that many guys our age are lacking.

Finally, rest. Rest is the time when your body can recover, and when the magic happens. Sleep is vital. Remember that :D
