Football/Soccer Fitness

I play on the wing or as a forward, and i am required to jog then make long sprints throughout the game. I feel a bit silly sprinting full pelt, then jogging whilst running around the streets! Would normal jogging help with this...or would i have to practise long sprints!

Thank you

I play exactly the same position as you do. For a start you should do both eg One day do some intervals the longest sprints you should do is 25m, sprint 25m then jog slowly back 25 mins then turn quickly and sprint another 25m do this as many times as you feel able to. Supplement this with jogs on other days.

An alternative is nightmares If you dont know what they are send me a private message and ill tell you (cant be stuffed typing it now)

Losing fat will increase your stamina; thus helping your lung capacity and running/sprinting alot longer. A good way to get better at sprinting and your stamina you should do some suicides or sprints up and down your back yard. Or if you want something more organized I would suggest a high intensity interval training workout. I have a thread on this here..
