Football question

Ok, this is gonna sound stupid, but....
I'm 19 yrs old, 5'10, 190 or so (10 lbs overweight).....I used to weight lift back in 8th grade-soph yr, did it last yr for 5 months as sort of powerlifting for crew (rowing, my sport). But since I can't row anymore due to location restrictions, I'd liek to take up football. Only one problem....
I've never played any football in my life.
When I play with friends, games, etc......I LOVE sacking the QB. I'm the ideal speed for a HB, but I'd like to play defense, pref. DE or some sort of LB.....I'm quick, agile and strong for my size, but I'm not a speedster really. If I had to run the 40, I could prob go for 4.6-4.7...
My one-rep maxes for the following are a ROUGH estimate as I have not done them in a few months....all in pounds
Bench- 165 (never cared about bench press)
Squat-300
Leg Press- 650 or so, prob. a little more but never went for it
I usually did medium weights for 15 reps or so, so it was getting toned but also sort of adding strength.
So my questions:
1) Which position should I try? I'm transferring to a local university (only 4k ppl though) for the spring portion of my 2nd yr of college and then finishing up for jr and sr yrs there, so I'll only have 2 yrs. Having never played, I have no idea really....as I said, I'd like to try DE, but college DEs are roughly 240-255 (Terrell Suggs). Pref. not CB, maybe LB but pref. DE....
2) What weight program should I use? I'm trying to get myself motivated enough to go to the gym again, but once I do I'll prob do more along the lines of heavy weights and 4 sets of 6-8 reps. Along with this, I'll also build back into my aerobic conditioning (last spring I used to run 4-5 miles a day, row for 2 hours and I also did 4 days of powerlifting), but not as much as last yr bc I know that heavy aerobics aren't good for putting on weight. I'm mainly just trying to gain 40 lbs or so, but I doubt It'll happen by fall....
Thanks guys!
