Foolish Rabbit Says Hello

Howdy all, I'm Usagi.

I live in Twentynine Palms, and I'm a fat feth, so I figured I'd look for some help before the summer heat and prediabetes murder me.

Yes, I am diagnosed prediabetic, that wasn't a joke.

Some basic vitals, I guess:

Sedentary life style (12hrs in a cab, 5d/wk, lots of time on a computer at home).

35 Years Old
255 lbs weight
5'7" height
Sugar fiend, foodie

That said, I've been making some changes to my lifestyle. Not sticking with all of them yet, but working on incorporating what I can regularly. It involves squeezing a lot in via the mornings.

Good Habit 1: Replaced most sugary sodas with Powerade Zero as my go-to drink. Used to be a 4 can a day guy, now I only really have one every few days or so, which I count as at least a partial victory.
Good Habit 2: started packing a bento box for lunch instead of eating out when I'm in the cab. Graze on light, fiber-ey snacks for a bit, eat half my entree (typically meat and lots of non-starchy veggies), graze again, finish entree. It's frustrating not to be able to grab a Spicy Jack sandwich, but what can you do?
Good Habit 3: Signed up for a gym, plus started a hiking routine around my local park. Park is flat, and .5 miles around the loop. 2 laps with a 25lb weight in the form of a hiking backpack and camping gear. Then over to the gym to do arm or leg day as appropriate. Workouts are every other day at the moment.
Good Habit 4: started tracking blood sugar with a meter, to see how all this is affecting me. Fun fact, if you try to hike a mile in the heat with a 25lb backpack when your starting blood sugar is below 85, you will pass out!
Good habit 5: Working on replacing cigarettes with a vape. 2 packs a day is a bullet train to death.

Anyway, hello all, I'm the foolish rabbit, and I wanna get below 230 lbs. :)

Hi Rabbit,

Sounds like you’re making some good changes and looking after yourself.

Walking is a great way to introduce some exercise into your life.

Long work hours; especially sedentary hours are a killer for fitness. I learned this the hard way too. Thankfully I was able to make a change to my work life that shortened my hours considerably and made it easier to fit exercise in.

Good luck mate. Looking forward to watching your progress!

Basically at this point I have to get up early and go get my exercise in before work.
