food plan for college student at home

Hi, I'm a 19 yr old college student. I still live at home (saving money) and I don't want my mom to have to buy me separte food for me. DO i just limit the amount of what I eat. Help me try to eat better without having to make my mom buy separte food for me!!!

what does your food plan look like now?

My food plan now..is kinda whatever mom makes. We eat alot of chicken and pasta soups latly cause of the cold hot dogs kinda the normal dinner things i guess. (whats normal thou)...thats dinner lunch i usually have a turkey sandwich with a handful of goldfish (small handful) and a glass of milk. Breakfeast I have a bolwl of Special K or Honey Nut Cherrios and a banana or orange I drink plenty of water and milk so thats not a problem and I hate pop. So help me from there. please

try and base each meal off a source of protein. good choices are eggs, milk, cottage cheese, chicken, lean red meat, turkey, salmon and tuna.

for breakfast some oatmeal would be a better choice than regular cereal. keep the fruit and add a protein food.

turkey sandwich and milk is good. could throw some fruit or veggies in there also.

try to have 5-6 meals a day about 3 hours apart from each other. a round steak and a sweet potato or beans or brown rice could be a meal. heres a list of other good foods to help you out

thank you! most of the foods you listed we have. So this will help alot...the only tuff part will be eating 5-6 meals a day. I'm a college student and I work....can small snacks replace those meals except for breakfeast lunch and dinner the ones I always eat? Thanks again

exactly, you hit the nail on the head. and you're asking US for help ;)

each meal doesnt have to be a full blown gourmet occassion. small meals like yogurt and nuts or tuna with some olive oil poured in or cottage cheese and fruit or protein shakes will do fine.

just plan ahead so you dont get caught with nothing in your hands when its time to eat. :)
