Sport Food for thought

Hi guys

For breakfast I eat 1/3 cup of oats with cup low fat milk, + a Banana and somethings strawberries mixed in.

Morning tea is some fruit.

And lunch is a rye bread wrap with salad and turkey. Trouble is today I was so hungry I went and got some crap food! Do I need to eat more? I suppose my mornign tea could do better. I tend to try and drink a litter of water by lunchtime.

I was wondering, should I wait until my stomach shrinks?

Also I tend to do well in the week, but on the weekend I eat crap (er). I still make better choices, but I am worried this will affect my long term progress, any tips for this?

I can really see how important eating clean is, and cardi for losing weight.

Hunger isn't something you want - It has negative effects. Take note of when you are hungry and on the next day eat slightly more on the meal that usually precedes the hunger. Or have a little snack in between.

The best tip I can give you to avoid eating junk food is to prepare meals in advance. The main reason I eat junk food is because there is nothing ready for me to eat. So, I have made it a job to make a buttload of meals on sundays. Anything from Sandwiches, chicken breast, brow rice, whole wheat pasta...etc.

Another way to prevent eating junk food, is to eat junk food. I know this sounds stupid but, you can indulge for one meal per week. Have a cheat meal, savor it, enjoy it. Decide what you will have in advance so you can look forward to it. You can do everything in your power to try and avoid a cheat meal, but really, one meal won't be bad for you. Beside's, life's too short :D

If you'd like, give us your weight, height, age and an idea of what exercises you are doing atm (if any) and we can help you further.

Hope this helped...oh and welcome to the best forum on the internet :D

Hi, Thanks for the response. I am about to finish my 5th week in my new training program. I was really getting into a good diet, but recently it has been even worse, I think my lifestyle is preventing me from losing weight.

Anyway I have a journal in the journal thread, it has a picture so you can see where I am at. I will update it soon.

I weight about 84 kg. I think I am 183cm tall, and I am 28.

My workout involves:

Squats: 2 sets of 12 reps 32kg (I am not lifting much here due to restrictions in my home gym set up, I am going to buy more weights shortly)

Bench 2 sets of 10/8 reps at 49kg (I have improved heaps here, making gains all the time)

Bent over row 2 sets 12/12 (been concentrating on form, but it is a struggle still)

DB shoulder press 20kg (i think) 10/8 (I think)

DB pull over 20 kg 12/12 (this roots me)

Tri extension (optional;, not doing them anymore no need)

Biceps curls (also optional) 11 kg 12/8 kg right arm 12/7 left arm

I run at least once a week in addition to this work out for cardio. But lately I have been running right after workouts.

My old work mate is a personal trainer, he made the program, and he is coming over on tomorrow as I need to change some stuffed.

And I really need help with my diet1

It is going so ****house.

Please give some ideas on what to eat, ie recipes etc. I have read through all this stuff and found some usefull stuff.

I have breakfast sorted, either oats and low fat milk + bannna, or low sugar muslie with low fat milk.

Lunch is not to hard, but I am intersted in some dishes I can prepare in advance (you say you make sandwhiches, but suerly they can't last that long).

And dinner is hardest for me.

I need to run more, I want to lose this gut, thats all I really want, I don't need to be massive (some tone would be nice though).

I will post latest picks tonight.

dinner should be easiest! cook up a nice big portion of chicken, turkey, fish, or lean beef. Cook up a bunch of veggies, 1 starchy and 1 fibrous (starchy veggies like potato, parsnips; fibrous are like broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, etc)
thats really all you need for a good dinner :)

And it sounds like you definitely need to eat more before lunch. Either a bigger breakfast, or more for your second meal, or both.

Okay thank you, anyone else got any advice?
