Food as a Hobby?

Okay, I hope I'm not the only one. I love eating food when I'm bored.. or when I get home from work. I don't eat at a table, I lovvvee getting comfy in some clothes, sitting on the couch and eating some good food. It's such a bad habit. But when I start diets I just break down and cry. I don't have any bad habits (smoking, drinking, gambling).. my bad habit is food! It's my favorite thing to do.

Anyone else start out like this?? How did you overcome it?

I love food... the textures, the smells, the tastes... everything about it.

I will never be one o those people who eats to live.... I enjoy food too much...

the only way around it - is moderation and watching portion sizes... you just have to do it...

I love food...

Especially late at night...
it's comforting and if you do it long enough it becomes a habit.
Next time you have a craving either eat something low cal and healthy, drink some water, wait 20 minutes and see if you still want what you're craving, or come on here and share! I find that the longer I go doing something, like not eating after 7:30 pm, it gets easier. Just think about how great you will feel if you resist the urge.

It's worth it.

Food is my passion but with everything we do, there needs to be control to a certain degree. There will be another day tomorrow, so portion control. When I start getting my cravings, I either start to chew some gum, eat some of my favorite fruits, drink water or tea and if all else fails, I workout for a couple minutes. Working out always kills any my cravings.

Don't go on diets. Just ease your way into breaking your habits. However many times you do this, cut it by one day a week. Start slowing to where you don't feel so deprived. Eventually, you'll LEARN how to tackle your nasty habit.

I won't ever be someone who "eats to live" either. I was raised with food as one of the focal points of my household - it's heavily involved in all of our entertaining and we're constantly trying new recipes and cuisines.

The way my family has overcome our "comfort foods" is by becoming motivated to try new healthy recipes. :) Maybe you could try learning to cook some new stuff? That way you'll still get to eat, just stuff that's not junk.
