Flexibility????

I'm 13 and last year I joined Tae Kwon Do and now i am able to stretch a lot more then i used to be able to. Although i have joined TKD im still not able to do the splits or anywhere near it. Some of the young kids in the TKD Academy are able to do the splits because they are in gymnastics or have been at the TKD school for a long time.
I was wondering, if i stretched everyday a little harder and a little longer would i eventually be able to do the splits or somewhere near it?
 
the short answer is yes.......basically you are trying your body to do something that at present isnt natural so you need to train it so it thinks its the most natural thing in the world. When you pratice your splits, push yourself that little bit closer and hold it for a little longer. I know i dont need to mention this but make sure your stretched off and warmed up as you dont want to injure yourself, but yes the more you work at it the closer you'll get. Try using two chairs and gradually move them away from each other. But always remember control is the key element to praticing the splits. Controlled movements, and you will see an improvement.
