Hello, I'm a 20 year old girl who's very interested of getting fit and then maintaining it. Why? I got a sickness that attacks my joints, in order to stay fit and not hurt myself, I have to to a lot more exercises with different pressures on my body. I'm only 20, but if i won't take action about it, then within less than 2 years, i'll act as i'm 60 - joints deformed and body aching all over. Of course I do not want to end up that way, so I did some research and found this forum, hoping that people who've been dealing with training their bodies could advise me what should i do.
The case here is that my wrists and ankles have gone trough changes, the bone structure has changed as the x-ray showed and it's irreversible. It's unable for me to do pushups or go jogging, although i really loved it before this happened. Pushups make my wrists feel like they're about to break in half, jogging i can do, but the day after my ankles are swollen up so badly that it looks like i escaped from a horror movie. So i found a golden mid-way: swimming. Not too much pressure to my joints, yet enough intense exercise to slowly gain muscle mass. I have fixed my eating habits as well, cut out carbs and fat, yet added a lot of protein rich foods(fish, chicken, meat) plus vegetables/fruits for vitamins and everything else my body requires. Also, i'm trying to lower my body fat percent, since i'm an adult now and gaining fat will be much more easier than losing it. The most problematic areas on my body are my waist (i got a flat tummy but the sides have fat mass, which disturbs me) and my feet, which i'd like to see having a bit more muscles.
I'm asking for help since maybe there's some ways i'm not informed about and I would be really grateful for any help!
Ann
