Fitness attire suggestions?

Hello,

Hope this is posted in the right area, does clothing count as equipment? Anyway, i'm trying to lower my bodyfat and have just started getting back into fitness. It's been more than a decade since i was last into exercising, and i'm thinking that sweat-shirts, jogging pants, and some basketball shoes are probably not the most effective way to go. I've seen the Sidney Crosby long sleeve RBK workout shirts at the local SportChek stores and i hear they're all the rage at the local gyms. I've also seen the "garbage bag" type sweat suits athletes wear to cut weight, with the wrist and ankle enclosures (tho that may not be something for regular use). What are some general recommendations for exercise gear to help promote fat loss? Will one of those Saucony shirts from my Vector cereal and some basic track pants do the deal?

I was also wondering about footwear. My current sneakers seem to have lost their ankle padding so they chafe quite a bit when i run. Should i specifically be looking for running shoes or would cross-trainers suit me best. They would be for running in the park (dirt/crushed rock path), and for playing Raquetball/Squash. Is there any particular name/brand that comes highly recommended? I'm looking for the most bang for the buck.

Thanks for any suggestions/feedback,

Rob

If I was you I would buy a couple of pairs of track pants some t-shirts some boxers and socks thats all you need to exercise.

As for shoes I always recommend crosstrainers especially of you are running on uneven surface and playing racquet ball. Aasics are my favourite but I also have a pair of nike free 7.0 that I love.

You dont need one of those garbage bag suits they only promote water weight loss and are mainly used by athletes that need to dehydrate before a fight and then they drink up and gain it back. Temporary solution.

I just wear athletic shorts or warmup pants and a muscle shirt. Commando for lifting (TMI?) and compression shorts for cardio (I don't do them together).

I prefer NewBalance shoes and they seem to come highly recommended from orthopaedists
