Hi,

I just signed up for fitday.com and put in all my stats. Im 6ft male, 31 yo, fat at 291lbs. I set my goal weight for 215 for July 10th. After putting in the details it says:

Calories you burn - 3,780
Calorie restriction - 1,261
Calories you can eat - 2,519

I can eat 2,519 calories a day to lose weight? I have very little knowledge in this area, I've never counted calories before. Is this an accurate figure?

I sure hope its true because I can do that EASY!!

Oops, meant to put this in the nutrition forum.

Accurate is difficult to say. :) The thing about calories is that they are estimates in the grand scheme of things.

But as far as giving you a starting point, yes Fitday is reasonably accurate.

I personally would have suggested more along the lines of 2800-2900 calories for you, given your current weight, but 2500 is certainly not unhealthy.

Also keep in mind that as your body weight goes down, your calorie needs will also go down, so you'll need to adjust those calorie levels periodically.
