Hi everyone, first time user here: Regarding one of the latest Fit Tips on the website: "FitTip- All diet sodas contain fructose, which cannot be broken down into energy, and is therefore stored as fat in the body"....if Diet Sodas contain 0 calories; and calories are a measurement of energy (basically anything) stored in the body, then how can this fit tip be correct? Does anyone have the answer to this? Thanks to anyone who can provide a clear answer to my seemingly simple question.

I believe they are referring to non-diet sodas. However the statement is still incorrect. There is a diffreance between digestion metabilization

Fructose exists in foods as either a monosaccharide (free fructose) or as a disaccharide (sucrose). Free fructose does not undergo digestion; however when fructose is consumed in the form of sucrose, digestion occurs entirely in the upper small intestine.
While fructose is not "digested" it is is metabolized almost completely in the liver and is directed toward replenishment of liver glycogen and triglyceride synthesis
