fish oil supplements make my skin super slimy :)

So, I've tried taking fish oil supplements because everyone is telling me to do that. And here's the problem: it makes my skin SO SO SO oily. I mean oily. Oily skin, oily hair. Gross.

I've tried a couple of varieties/makes of fish oils, but I still had the same problem. It's been a couple of years since I tried it and I'm wondering if I should try it again...maybe there is something new and effective out there that isn't so slippery? I don't, however, want something that's so processed that I undo any good that I'm doing by taking the supplement in the first place.

Has anyone else had this slickness problem? Is there a supplement to try that maybe doesn't have this effect or has less of it? Also, are there iodine-free fish-oil supplements available and if so, are those so processed that it's not worth it?

Thanks for any information and sorry to have so many questions crammed into one post. :)

it sounds like you already suffer from over active oil glands in the skin...EFA supps (assuming you're taking a reasonable amount and not overdosing) should not cause increased oily skin.

I have oily skin sometimes around my nose.

It is a good thing to have oily skin (not too oily) because then your skin has moisture and is healthier.

Keeps your skin looking young.

Why do you think all women have 'face moisturiser'?

Better than having dry and wrinkly skin.

do not go over the 3Mg limit a day through supplementation.

And I highly doubt its the fishoil that is true cause of the oily skin. Though of course we can not say for sure because all bodies are different and all react different to different things.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestion and laughs. :) I have a tiny bit of oily skin normally--somewhat oily or relatively for my age, but it's nothing that I ever think about or have to do anything about. With the fish oil supplements, it's awful! So yes, I'll try what you suggest with hemp or flax oil, and I'll also check out my gils. :)
