First session with protein powder shake (awesome!)

I've always had a limited diet option, the Army doesn't exactly give you much besides salt and fat on a regular basis. As of late I've been eating a fruit cup, some salted cashews, a protein bar, and a glass of milk for breakfast in a vain attempt to get protein, but it just wasn't happenin.

So today, I took that step, got a blender, some whey protein (flavored, is there any unflavored stuff?), a bunch of different berries (grapes, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries) and bananas, and some vitamin D milk.

I put enough fruit and powder and milk to give me 130g protein in a 32 oz shake and drank it 15 minutes before workout time, right when I take my eNoxide.

The difference was startling to say the least.

I did 10 more pounds on the military press, 2 more pullups, 5 more pounds on the bent-over-row, 5 more on each arm on the concentration curls, 5 more dips, and 10 more pounds on the lat row. My lats, delts, and arms are swollen up and the skin is very tight. I'm worn out but not hurting.

I gotta say, the difference in a proper diet or, lacking that, the ability to make a proper diet out of supplements, goes a long way.

I'm feeling the slow changeover from slug to gym nut.

Idoubt very much that 1 shake gave you this extra boost for your workout!

It was most likely in your head before you even started.

Well done on the improvements though.

Have that shake at least twice a day btw.

Yeah, I'm having one in the AM well before the morning run (as sort of a wake-me-up) and in the afternoon before Army PT and doing my weight training regimen.

I'm also usually hungry by about 7 p.m., but the shake and a decent dinner still has me comfortably full.

Probably the stimulants in eNoxide gave you the boost. 15 mins pre-workout is a bit close...60 mins pre-workout is a better window for workout nutrition.
gives it time to actually get into the gut, and by the time your workout ends, its time to eat again and the body wants post-workout nutrition as well.

glad you happy but I agree with the others, u should push that back abit say 45-60 mins before the workout and the shake gave u the notion u could do it and u did.. but it did not enhance your performance by that much..

either way thats great just remember to not over do it just because u got the shake in you.. the last thing u want is an injury

I did what others have said, pushed it back a bit to 60 minutes before.

I got to say, the duration of my workouts are also increasing. I used to be able to knock out a set and drag my arms back to my room in 45 minutes, but this evening I pounded out a good hour and a half in the weight room. I was pushin it harder than I have been, doing a bit more weight than normal but for way longer.

This protein stuff is pretty nifty.
