Fireman Journey

Hello All,
My name is Vito and this where my jounery begins sort of speak. I'm currently 29 yrs old & 6'1 and 306 lbs and I'm not happy about it. Last year this time, I was going to the gym regularly, and I weighed 280, we'll at the time of course I got sidetracked and got off course and never went back. Ever since I was younger I was always overweight, and it seems with every year that passed I would gain little more. We'll I decided its time to put a stop to that.

My ultimate goal or at least what is "healthy" is to be around 180's. I know it won't happen over night. I just joined a gym, which has all the equipment a gym would have and also a pool too, which i thought would be good to change it up. I have an appt scheduled with a Pt a week from friday, so in the meantime I've been doing little bit here and there to get my body acquanted with working out again,

My Goals Are:

1. To lose weight.
2. To build endurance and strength
3. To Build Stamina
4. To Change my lifestyle to a more healthy one
5. To be able to go to a deparment store and be bale to buy nice outfits( usually don't have my size).

The only other thing that is an obstacle for me is the weight loss portion in terms of what i'm eating. I look online , it seems just like workouts, everyboday has an opinion about what is right. So i'm hoping that I may get some help here.

Vito

Welcome Vito! Listen to your personal trainer and you'll do fine. I'll be surprised if your PT doesn't recommend that you:

1. Determine your basal metabolic rate and take in fewer calories than that.
2. Begin a weight training program to expedite the weight loss and increase strength.
3. Take up an activity to build endurance like swimming or cycling that support your weight or running when you are a little lighter.

Why not really put yourself to task and sign up and pay for a sprint triathlon before this year is up? That should keep you motivated. 8 months of working out combined with 50+ pound loss will get you through a triathlon.

g8r80,

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping my PT will give me the right direction to acheive my goals. Don't you have to be in tip top shape to do a triathlon? Where are they held?

I wasn't sore yesterday from doing some upperbody strength training, but boy did I feel it when I woke up this morning....lol....I went to the gym today and did 15min on the treadmill and did some lowerbody strength training. I figured its best to go easy, espically starting out.

Tmrw begins week #2. I suprised myself by going thurs, fri and saturday. Saturday I tried that Step Machiine, I was beat after 10 mins, looks Like i have to some to to do.
