Alright, so here's the thing. I've been working out since I was 20. I'm 24 now. I mainly focus on weight lifting and the cardio kinda comes and goes. When I first started working out, I mainly focused on cardio, and I went from 180lbs down to 150lbs. (I'm a male, 6 feet tall). Since getting down to 150 pounds I have managed to put on quite a bit of muscle, and a few months ago I reached a weight of 190lbs. I have a fairly muscular build and I am happy with what I have achieved, but since summer is coming I believe it is finally time for me to start cutting. I want to strip the little bit I of fat that I've gained along with my muscle. Over the last year I have been pretty loose with my diet. I've been making an effort to eat healthy, but at the same time, I don't deny myself stuff when it's available, and I haven't been limiting myself to the times of day that I eat. But last week I decided to really buckle down and do a cutting phase. So here's what I'm doing.
As far as the workout goes, I'm switching from lifting really heavy weight, low reps to lifting lighter weight, at least 15 times per set. I work two muscle groups a day. Chest/Shoulders, Legs/Back, Biceps/Triceps. Along with the weight training I have been doing heart rate interval training jumping my heart rate back and forth between 127bpm and 157bpm.
This is the diet I've set up for myself:
Breakfast: (one of these three)
High fiber or whole grain cereal with one cup of 1% milk, one bananna
One serving of oatmeal, one bananna
4 egg white omlette w/ one slice canadian bacon, and 1/4 cup of chedder cheese
Snack # 1
25 low sodium almonds
14 baby cut carrots
Snack # 2
One piece of mozzerola string cheese wrapped in 3 slices of 97%fat free deli turkey breast
Lunch
High protien low fat healthy choice or lean cuisine meal
Turkey sandwich containing two slices of sara lee whole grain bread, two slices 97% fat free deli turkey breast, once slice of tomato, romaine lettace, very little miricale whip light, and brown mustard
Snack # 3
One container of yoplait light yogert
One Nutri Grain bar
Dinner (one of the following)
Four egg white omlette with one yolk, one slice canadian bacon, and 1/4 cup of chedder cheese
One 4 oz Chicken breast with 1 cup of frozen green or mixed vegetables.
Late at night if I feel the need to I snack on low fat beef jerkey. I also drink a protien shake right after my workout which becomes about 45 minutes before dinner.
For those guys that have been successful at cutting, I would like some constructive criticisum on my routein. Anything that I should stop doing, or start doing, or change, or anything, I want to know. I think I'm on the right track, considering I've lost 2 pounds this week. But I'm always open to suggestions.
