figure competitions

Well I am now 26 yrs old and for the past 4 yrs people have come up to me at the gym and asked when my competition was coming up. I think it's time I do it. Now out of all seriousness I haven't a clue how to change everything come weeks before the competition. I work out 6 days a week being at min 35 minutes of cardio which would include interval running on the treadmill or 45 minutes of interval training on the ellipticle I do either or every morning always changing my routine up. I then go back after work in the aft and complete my weights 5 times a week. I love working out and everyone says I have great genetics however it's freakn hard not to allow myself to get body builder big. I respect all women (and men) body builders however; I personally find the completely ripped lean figure look for myself better. I am currently 130 Lbs at 5'6 and 119 Lbs is muscle according to my last fit test. Any information regarding competitions from training, eating, cutting out carbs when .....I need so many questions answered, my first competition is in 6 weeks...am I a li'l scared uhhhh LI'L BIT!! ;) Thanks so much for all your help. :)

I don't know about 119lbs of muscle, but maybe the doctor meant 11lbs of fat. Which doesn't mean 119lbs of lean muscle; because of bones, organs, etc.

eg... (11/130)100 = ~8.4%

8% bodyfat for a girl is unbelievable. It borders unheathy though, stay safe! And good luck in the competition!! Keep us updated!!

Yeah you are probably right. I'm not sure what is what all I know is how to work out but for training and eating before a competition I am pretty muched messed. Thanks again. I'll be sure to let you know how it went.

I spoke with a friend of mine that retired from pagents and figure competitions and she said the lowest bodyfat she was ever down to was 11% so she's surprised that you have energy levels because she and most of the otehr girls at that low were extremely tired all the time.

Anyway, she said her typical activity about 8 weeks out was 6 meals a day with high protein and less than 50 grams of carbs a day. Most of her carbs came from the morning oatmeal.

She weight trained three times a week and started with 30 minutes of cardio every day. This continued until she was doing 1 hour of cardio twice a week.

I wish you the best of luck because that sounds very grueling.

thanks so much

Hey thanks so much for the reply. I think it's quite possible that I am higher then 8 but whatever. Thats just what I was told. I have been working out for years and truly feel as though I am around 10-11%. I'm surprised she only got down to 11% for a competition average for comp is 9-10. 11 is great though. Everyone always says I over due it but it's just a huge part of my life that I have done for so long now that it will never change. Thank you so much for the info I guess being as I have 6 more weeks I better lay off the carbs....YIKES  .............As for being tired .....YES ALL THE TIME!! Driving me freakn crazy and so cranky, my family doesn't want to be around me most of the time. I snap at so many li'l things I drive myself crazy. Again thank you sooooo much for the info your awesome. All the best. ;)
