I have started this thread for all of you out there who have questions relating to the female's monthly cycle...that way you can feel free to post any queries related to this topic and (presumably) those who are offended by this topic can avoid it! :D

My periods have definately lightened up, the cycle is still short, between 3 and 3.5 weeks, lucky me:rolleyes: ! I noticed it was lighter in the first m,onth but didn't expect it to continue, meanwhile 2 cycles later, still lighter. :D . Another way to save with Cohen's, less to be spent on those delightful sanitary products.

i have PCOS and had hoped that losing so much weight would assist in evening out the period roller coaster. however, since starting cohens i''ve only had my period twice. so it doesnt really seem to have improved in terms of regularity. i think the moods werent too bad - so thats an improvement. i feel that the next one may be coming on soon, though so i'll post any updates.

the other pcos symptoms havent improved too much either - still excess hair! although my skin is much better. hmmmmmmm.

I have endometriosis and have always been a heavy bleeder. I am also sensitive to disposables (pads & tampons) and i just found THE BEST natural products ever.

It's a menstrual cup and it works like a diaphragm and doesn't leak like a tampon. Apparently it's been around since the 40's and I honestly don't know why they aren't more popular. I used to have to shop for a change of clothes in the middle of the work day at least once every other month and since i've been using this, i've not had one leak. The website is The Keeper and it's the best $65 i've ever spent. I save so much money on disposables i made my money back in a few months. They also have natural cloth napkins which I also recommend.

There are other products that I now use instead of disposables so if anyone wants more information, please email me penny@brightyellowpiglet.com

If you've finished having children, the other thing I would highly recommend for reducing periods is an Mirena IUD which has hormones on it that reduce periods. Its fantastic! I used to have very heavy periods. Now I have spotting on one or two days, at the most.
But they don't recommend using IUD's until after you are finished having children, and I'm not sure about with endometriosis. I didn't have that, just the heavy periods.
(You have to get the Mirena one though, not a normal IUD - they make your periods heavier.)

Question about change to menstrual cycle while on Cohens

Hi there

I am brand new to this forum and would appreciate any assistance anyone may have with my query. I have been on Cohen's for 8 weeks now and am about half way through my 9th week. In that time, I have dropped from 75.5kgs to 64.4kgs (on Cohen's scales - on my scales, I'm slightly less).

If you don't understand kgs, basically I have dropped 2 full dress sizes (I was starting to go into a higher dress size when I started the program). My period is usually a 26 day cycle, or at least it has been for the better part of this year. My first period after starting Cohens, my cycle pushed out to either 28 or 29 days (I think it was 29). This month, is looks like it is pushing out to 30 days.

I have 2 questions. First, has anyone else experienced this, is it normal, should I be worried? And the second question (which you may or may not be able to answer), does anyone know how I can delay or force a period without being on the Pill? The reason for my questions is because in January I am getting married. Up until I started Cohen's, there was absolutely no way I was going to have a period during my wedding. However, since Cohens and these changes, it is actually looking quite likely that I will be on my first or second day of my period the day I get married, which of course is my most heaviest.

Perfect! NOT! :(

If anyone can help with some advice, I would be most appreciative.

Many thanks

TAG, The other thing you can do, if you're not already is, go on the pill, and don't take a break between packs. The 7 red pills between the other ones (the sugar pills) are what allows you to have your period between pill cycles. If you miss these and just go on to the next lot of pills, you'll miss your period too. This is quite safe, so long as you don't do it for too long. If you only miss one once in a while, it's fine.

also have a look at another post higher up about an IUD that gives you lighter periods.

But for my money, I'd go with the pill idea and just skip that one altogether. That way you wont' have to worry at all.

You should, of course, go see your doctor and explain the situation, see what s/he says.

If they don't want to work with you, there ARE always other docs.

new question

Hello

Was just wondering if anyones else's weight loss stops the week of there periods... It's really annoying, but i hope it makes up for it next week. Haven't got them yet but am due today, but have not lost weight in the last 3 days and this seems to be the case every month, no weight loss for a week and no measurements don't budge either.

I tend to lose weight regularly before I get my period. When I get it, my weight loss stops. And then one week after the stop of my period, I will start losing weight again...

Netski Is Back

I lost my monthly cycle in May 2006, 1 month after cohens started and it's still not back, doctor isnt too concered since i have PCOS and i'm no longer on the pill since early 2006, but i must say as much as i disliked getting it, at least i knew it was all working as i should now i just feel a bit......................asexual?

What are you thoughts?

Bumping this thread up again.

Since Feb I hadn't had a period which was unusual for me even though I have PCOS. My menstrual cycle is always regular and then this week I noticed alot of bloating and weight gain even though I'm very good with my meals post-Cohen's and have been maintaining my weight quite easily. This morning after 74days I got my period which explains all the bloating.

I noticed Netski had the same problem too.Has anyone else experienced this while on Cohen's?

isparkle, interesting but I was thinking that I'm overdue for a period now. My cycle is about 24 days and I am always regular, so I was wondering about the effects of the diet on my body after 32+ weeks. This has only occurred on this cycle, although I did have some 'loss' over a week ago but it certainly wasn't at my normal time in the cycle. It seems odd that it has happened so suddenly and at this late stage.

Hmmm it's seems to have happened to us when we were both near our goal weights. For the first 3mths of Cohen's I was fine, then the final mth until now haven't had anything.

Irene

will keep you posted isparkle50 as to the outcome(?)
