Hey everyone, I'm feel bad this morning.
Over the past 5 months I have lost 18 pounds. 152.5 to 134.5.
Well since I pretty much met my goal weight I decided to do loosen up a little.
Eating a little more (approx 200 more daily)
And lowering my exercise to 3-4 days a week instead of 5. I am doing the fitness blender HIt and strength training work outs. So then I get on the scale this morning and I went from 134.5 to 137! I cried. I lose weight really slow so to put that back on in a week is really hard to deal with. Not to mention apparently I have to stay on a strict weight loss plan to keep my weight off because deviating from it will pack it on. I'm depressed... Thought? Anything would help. I feel like I could have dealt 1 pound gain but not 2.5, in 1 week!

Don't give up!

Hey Meldennis! I came across your post and I want to tell you, to not give up! I can relate what you are saying. I starter dieting the last year, and i was 183 pounds! (so much more than you), during all this time i got to 155 pounds... A couple of months ago, I started working out intensively, and switched from only cardio, to cardio and weights... I've been feeling so much stronger, faster, and with so much more energy.. I've also been eating more, (because according to my doctor, i need more energy to recovery and have a better work out performance). Last week, I went on the scale and guess what 160 pounds! I had your same reaction, I was freaking out!! I had to talk to my doctor about it, i didn't understand why, if i was doing all the right things, i was gaining so much weight! My doctor, dr Ankita, (i found her through a free app called First Opinion where I can text a doctor 24/7) told me that it is normal! Your body might be replacing fat with muscles! Don't fill your mind with negative thoughts and keep on with the hard work!!

Hi Meldennis, Saw your post about gaining weight. There are a number of reasons the scale couldl have jumped liked that but first you need to know that it's impossible to gain 3 pounds of fat that quickly (you need to eat in excess of 3,500 to gain 1 pound). If you have been eating a low carb diet and then added carbs in, you wil retain more water that next day. If your sodium went up, you could also be retaining water... without knowing you or how you have been eating and what you changed exactly it would be impossible for me to give you specific advise. I do know though that you will not have to stay on a strict weight loss plan your whole life. That is exactly what causes your metabolism to slow down. You will need to gradually increase your calories as you are doing, but maybe for you, you increase by 100 calores not 200. Everyone is different and a lot of factors come in to play. If you need some guidance, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I've got 25+ years experience as a heatlh coach, personal trainer, & nutiritonist.

Dont't quit.

Frustration is normal, yes. But clear your psyche and focus on the goal at hand.

I used to to be such a perfectionist and I would dwell on minor negative aspects in my life. Keeping a clear mind and thinking positively will help with the adversity you face in your weight loss goal.

The reason your weight jumped up was probably simply because of a large meal that made you retain water or something insignificant as that.

keep your head up you got this!

Did you resume carbs? That's got to be water weight.

Hi
I think everyone who is losing or has lost weight has faced that same problem, So if you want To get great results, You must be patient and stick with your plan.

It's going to take time to lose the weight, because it took time to gain the weight. Just keep making healthy choices each day and making time for fitness
