The Proper way to fast:
-Eliminate ALL toxins from your daily life (tobacco, weed, caffeine, ect.)
-Eat nothing but fruits and drink nothing but water for a full week before you start your fast
-The absolute longest time a fast should continue is 48 days. Ten really isnt that many.
- To truely fast you must abstain from ALL foods, fruits included. If you eat even veggies (and especially fruit) your body will never actually detox and fast because you will never reach ketosis. You know youve hit that, without wasting cash on Ketone-sticks, when you have what regular fasters call "acetone breth". It's caused by the chemical breakdowns going on in the body helping it create energy from it's backup sources. It's just seemingly-permenant bad breath.
- During the fast you should rest as much as possible. You really really shouldnt work out, it will completely exaust the body, making the fast dangerous.
- After the fast is over, reintroduce food back to your system slowly or you could cause a binge reaction in your brain and gain back all the weight. start with broths, then yougarts, then fruits and veggies and protiens.
- A really good book for this information is Hunger: An Unnatural History. The first 3 chapters are about the physical and chemical reactions of the body to fasting and then starvation.
