Feedback on Fasting Plan

Ok so for 10 days I want to go without eating anything except one fruit a day and drink nothing but water. Through these 10 days I will still engage in smoking cigarettes and pot. Do you think this will result in any weight loss? I know it doesn't sound like the healthiest thing to do but it's only 10 days.
 
It's late and I'm tired, so I don't know if this is a joke or if you're serious. Are you seriously asking this question? If you already know its not safe then why would you do it? I'm not even going to touch the smoking of various substances topic...as I don't condone either, especially illegal substances.

Not to seem as though I'm lecturing...though I guess I am, but...if you starve yourself to lose weight for whatever reason as soon as you begin eating a "normal" diet all the weight is going to come back.

That whole "plan" of yours just sounds horrible. To fast for spriritual reasons is one thing, but to try to starve yourself thinner is dangerous and I strongly discourage it, but it's your body and your decision. Though I sincerely hope that you reconsider.
 
why would you want to do this?

10 days is a long time...

around here - a safe and sane approach to weight loss is encouraged - -your method is neither safe nor sane... why risk your health
 
What's the worst that's gunna happen? Some people do this every year based on their religion. I'll also be doing push-ups each day. 'Ohappydaye' I didn't exactly post the info about cigarettes and pot for personal opinions but more for people to take those factors into consideration because both increase metabolism. Again, I'm not looking for personal opinions but if you think it would result in weight loss.
 
short answer to your question - would you lose some weight. Yes.

Would it stay off? probably not - not when you went back to eating normally.

you aren't looking for personal opinions then why post the question in a support community for weight loss... one that encourages healthy behavior and not quick fixes. you are going to do what you are going to do - good luck with it..
 
Don't come crying when you lose muscle and gain back a bunch of fat, b/c you screwed up your metabolism - everyone tried to warn you.

Though this is pointless, no, I didn't. The entire sentence said

I said I don't condone the use of them, which is why I did not offer an opinion regarding whether or not you should use them in your fast or how effective they would be...two different things. Again, the best of luck to you.
 
I would personally seek some drug abuse help at this point
because maybe your were stoned when you posted that?

I haven't seen any support at all in this thread. I came here to find out some information on what the result of this procedure would be, instead I get people telling me not to do drugs or get checked in for drug abuse. You guys are idiots, I'm done here. I'll go discuss things with people who aren't so damn closed and absent minded.

Those people fast all day but EAT after sunset... I am presuming you intend to eat nothing for all 24 hours. A bit different. Your "plan" is more along the lines of David Blaine and the challenge that he did in London.
 
SeanRC, Talk is cheap, I doubt you could go one day without eating. You started this on 11/27/06. Step up to the plate. Or away.

since when does smoking pot increase your metabolism? most pot smokers i know are on the big side
Since the beginning of time? And Troutman, going a day without eating is easy, especially when you dont have that much food available in the first place.
 
The Proper way to fast:
-Eliminate ALL toxins from your daily life (tobacco, weed, caffeine, ect.)
-Eat nothing but fruits and drink nothing but water for a full week before you start your fast
-The absolute longest time a fast should continue is 48 days. Ten really isnt that many.
- To truely fast you must abstain from ALL foods, fruits included. If you eat even veggies (and especially fruit) your body will never actually detox and fast because you will never reach ketosis. You know youve hit that, without wasting cash on Ketone-sticks, when you have what regular fasters call "acetone breth". It's caused by the chemical breakdowns going on in the body helping it create energy from it's backup sources. It's just seemingly-permenant bad breath.
- During the fast you should rest as much as possible. You really really shouldnt work out, it will completely exaust the body, making the fast dangerous.
- After the fast is over, reintroduce food back to your system slowly or you could cause a binge reaction in your brain and gain back all the weight. start with broths, then yougarts, then fruits and veggies and protiens.
- A really good book for this information is Hunger: An Unnatural History. The first 3 chapters are about the physical and chemical reactions of the body to fasting and then starvation.

PS. Weed slightly ups your metabolism, not enough to count, but the munchies throw that off anyways, so it doesnt matter.
