Hi there,

I am John Green. I was very fat when I entered my 12th standard. Thereafter, I had joined a gym where I used to workout almost everyday and lost lots of extra kilos and returned back to shape. After that I stopped going to gym and doing workouts that is why I have become overweight. Now I am only 22 yrs old with height 5 10 and weighing nearly 100kg. Please help I am worried. Please give me some tips.

Thanks

Simply put? You need to reduce your calorie intake. I suggest keeping a food log for at least a week so you can look back at it and see what changes you need to make.

But what to write on the log

Hi,

Thanks for your advise but I also want to know how do I need to prepare the weekly log. I mean what all things I need to write in that. Please help. Thanks in advance

Every bit of food that goes into your mouth, including liquids. It is a food log. It is so you can look back to see what you need to remove or adjust. If you feel like you have a problem with emotional eating, I would write your emotions when you are eating as well.

Hi,
Thanks again apart from the food log what exercises do I need to do in order to keep my weight under check. Thanks

I'd suggest just focus on your diet. No amount of exercise matches what a simple adjustment in your diet will do.

when to check my weight

Hi,

One more thing I want to know is there any need to check my weight daily. If not then when I must check my weight Once in a week ??

It is better to do once a week. Weight fluxuates too much for once a day to be realistic unless you measure over a period of time.

I agree with Jericho, focusing on your diet is most important. A food log is extremely useful as it allows you to get a better idea of how much food you are consuming. In my food log I write down everything that I eat, the number of calories for each item, and then the total number of calories for each day. I would definitely recommend exercising as well. You said the reason you gained weight is because you stopped exercising. If you burn 500 calories a day from exercise, in theory that equates to a pound of weight loss per week. Besides controlling your weight, exercise is very important for overall health. The amount of exercise is up to you, but I suggest doing it as often as possible. As for the type of exercise, you should focus on cardio in whatever form you choose whether it be running, biking, swimming, elliptical, boxing, dancing, playing tennis, jumping rope etc. The important thing is to do something challenging enough to get your heart rate up and to keep it there for at least 20 minutes. If walking quickly makes you sweat and breath heavy, then it is probably good cardio for you.

weight measurement

I want to know one thing. Which weight measurement machine should I buy and how much it would cost. Please recommend some cheaper machine. Thanks in advance

That is a pretty broad statement. If you are talking scales there are many types and brands. I prefer digital but that is due to my size.

I would just go to some discount retailer near your home, and look for inexpensive scales. Since you are not a professional boxer (or are you? :coolgleamA:) you do not need to have a perfect measurement of your weight. As long as you always weigh yourself on your scale, your weight-loss will be measured correctly. They have a lot of "fancy" weight machines out there right now, and I don't think that you need body fat, etc. just to check your weight. The way it measures fat % on a scale (electrical resistance) is not accurate anyway. Get a cheap one!!
