Fear of developing gallstones

I have been suffering from a gluten-dairy intolerance and have been mostly vegetarian. Recently everything I eat kills me unless it's very well cooked. Because I've been feeling unwell I have not been eating much at all. Good news is I've lost a bunch of pounds, bad news is I read about gallstones developing from loosing weight too fast. I have been trying to consume 800+ cals but if I eat more I feel bloated and fatigued. My cal intake has been between 300-800 cals and I feel completely satisfied, anymore and I just feel like I want to take a Tums and lay down.

I am so worried I'll get gallstones since I'm loosing 4-5 lb a week on average (even though I feel great!)... Should I just suck it up and stuff myself? I don't know what I'm should do... please help... :(

You should see a doctor and get yourself checked out, straight away.

I agree with San. You need to see a doctor and tell them everything that you have told us. Print this posting that you made out to make sure that you do not forget to tell them half the information.

I have. Both have said to avoid my triggers and to eat more chicken and I'll get used to it

Well I've been trying and I can usually eat some chicken with veg but after about the amount the size of my fist I start feeling really full and if I force myself to eat more I just end up feeling really full and like I don't want to move all night :( At least eating less I can at least go for a run after dinner

Im not sure... do you think that eating more calories through juice with help keep the gallstones away> I read its less than 800 cals and you're at risk. I can drink a few cups of OJ and be over 800 cals at the end of the day, but I'm worried those cals are supposed to be 'solid' foods or it wot really count

I would be inclined to try with foods that are not heavy and see how it goes... Maybe part of your feelings may be a fear of the pain returning...

I would experiment with things like milk, eggs, yoghurt, fish, chicken soup... things that are traditionally given to an invalid in recuperation who cannot yet cope with anything too heavy... See how it goes...

I guess that those would be more beneficial than having OJ - since it would get some protein into you... OJ doesnt even give you the fibre that oranges give - so apart from the vitamin C it is like having a sugary drink...

I am really concerned that you are not getting enough nutrition which cannot help you over the long term. It may even be worth you asking about fortified drinks like Ensure Plus - which are designed to give invalids a reasonably high calorie small drink. I am not a big fan of protein powders - but this may be an occasion where they would be of benefit.

I would monitor the situation and continue consulting your doctor if your appetite does not return. Feeling like this is not good for the long term. I cannot help but think that it may indicate health problems which are not being picked up.

See a doctor, and also, just from my own personal experience (I have a damaged liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, and large intestine from earlier pain medication use) I buy a whole organic, locally farmed chicken, cook it, eat it with loads of organic vegetables, then pick all the meat off and eat that the rest of the week, and I immediately boil the bones and make a stock. It is SO helpful to my stomach and helps ease liver and gallbladder function. If your doctor said eat more chicken, this is the way to go, I promise you. It helps me SO much! As for your other intolerances, I am not sure, but this is one piece of advice I can give!
