Fat percentge and other issues

Hi all,
I was 110 kg and now i am down to 97kg. Within the first few weeks of dieting, the first thing noticed by my colleagues was that i lost weight/fat in my face. Later, they noticed the decrease in stomach size.

I heard that there is generally an order followed by the body in losing weight for men, starting with the face first. Is this true? what is this order?

lets assume that this is the right order, since i have already lost fat in my face and started losing in another area, does this mean that I am done with my face weight/fat loss? or I will lose some more later if I keep losing weight?

My current body fat % is 28. What is recommended for me? Age: 25, height:169 cm.

Many Thanks

your body loses the fat where it loses the fat -there's no predefined order in where it leaves the body... everyone has a trouble spot that is generally the last place the fat goes...

how do you find out what your body fat percentage is? I'd like to know what mine is.

There's a lot of ways, but anything that is remotely accurate will take someone with experience doing the measuring. Most commonly used is skin fold measurement using calipers, which most fitness facilities will have trained professionals there to do.

yeah ive found most body fat % things are disturbingly inaccurate or agreeable with other methods. Try and be more interested in going down bodyfat %, and being a goal shape rather than a goal body % of weight.

Yeah, I believe you're right about them being inaccurate. I used a calculator online where you enter weight, gender, measurements, etc. and they give you a percentage. Mine came out to be 32%, which puts me in the obese category, but I am in a normal weight range for my height, exercise very often, and eat fairly well. I have a really hard time believing that that is right. You can see the muscles in my arms and legs, I'm just carrying a little extra fat on my stomach, so its gotta be wrong, right? I'll be horrified it its right.

Also, I looked up the bio electrical impedence(sp?) scales online, and found one that all the reviews said was very accurate. Is it worth buying? I know you said don't focus on body fat %, but it is another way to measure my progress, and I'd like to know what I am.

forget the scales. none are accurate, they send a buzz up one leg and down the other - hardley gonna guess your entire body mass based on what fat is on your legs (you could have HUGE boobs!)
Not to mention most of them have a BMI calculator, so you tell them your height, it measures your weight, then it measures how much water i your legs (assumes that your upper and lower are balanced .. which im sure they rarely are), and then assumes whats not water must be fat. So if you happen to have more muscle than most it can tell you stupid things like 30% body fat when in fact you are probably in the low teens :)

Dont get obsessed with body fat %, get a clothes size or ideal look you want. Go for it.

for the record, my bioimpedance home scales say im nearly 40% bodyfat (which is a really silly number, because i know im closer to half that! )

According to my scales (the ones with the thing up your leg) I have body fat at 31%... you can see a pic of me in my diary, but I am not obese by any means! I am not even extremely overweight (just a tad... :)).
My really skinny boyfriend, whose legs could win a skinniest legs in the world contest, still gets a measure of 26% BF! And his BMI is about 20 (if not less)! Also it fluctuates a lot on the scales.

By the way the WHO (that is the world health organization) recommends around 20% for women and 8-12% for men (or that it what they teach us at least).
