Fat for life?

Hi everyone. My name is Mike and well, I've been fat since I was born, I was even 2 lbs heavier at birth. But all I want is to have people look at me and not see a "fat@$$". I got a gym membership and started working out with the Arnold Schwarzenegger encyclopedia of modern body building. But I fell off and stopped going.

I guess I'm just looking for tips or support to get me going again. I feel that the image of my body has held me back from living my life. I'm 30, never had a gf, and do have serious image problems. I am active and can walk miles at a time. I just never seem to lose weight. Anyone have any ideas where I should start? Thanks sorry for the long post.

-In the same box myself,I'm 22.I always been plus sized and I know it's held me back. You're not the only one,it happens.I hope that you do achieve weight loss and live life as you chose.I do have one tip: part of it is the people around you

Hi guys--Try making a diary on the Weight Loss Diary section of the forum. We love new posters there and it's a great place to log your food and exercise and make some buddies to support you xo

Choose a Diet plan that would suit you, routine exercise a good way to burn calorie. I for one needed some information on what routine exercise to take to effectively loose weight. Some may do it effortlessly, eat anything and not gain an ounce but for others it is different. If we have family history of obesity, overweight, cholesterol more than likely if we are plus bigger size than others that is genetic. But the most important aspect that we need to build up is our mind set, our body may be different from others but we have to appreciate it... for others to appreciate us... take for instance, hmmm.. Seth Rogens, he didn't have an all toned body as Terry Crews but they do have one thing in common they make us laugh, smile and lighten our hearts watching their commercials or clips or movies... Lighten your mood, have a positive attitude(vibe). If we are on to weight loss, let us get a thick log(diary) and first thing on the list write your goal and find ways to achieve it...

I agree with Julie about the mind. The way you think definitely affects what you do. If you have in your mind that you will be fat for life, you are setting yourself up for failure. Try changing your inner dialogue! Everytime you think something negative, correct yourself/change it to something positive. Tonight for me, I was feeling super lazy, not wanting to get up, extremely tired and I kept saying that to myself. Finally I just stopped thinking, got up, changed and worked out. Now I feel awesome that I did that! So I know if I listen to myself when I'm being like that, notinng will get done. So I just have to get up and do it.

Also, diet is like 80-90% of it all! Sure I can bike for an hour and burn 400 cals, but if I overeat by 1000..... still can gain! So I would suggest using a website/app like myfitness pal. You put your info in (age, weight, activity level, how many lbs per week you want to lose (1, 1.5, or 2) and it'll calculate the calories you need to consume to be able to do that. It's an eye opener, I guarantee it. It's unbelievable how things add up, especially if you aren't eating the right things.... those add up A LOT!

So I would definitely join myfitnesspal and log your calories and like sunflower said, make a diary and post regularly! It helps to get extra supprt but also helps when you express yourself!
