Sport Fasting for a whole month

Sport Fitness
Hi. My name is Imran and i will be fasting for the month of Ramadahan and if people don't know what this is, it is a month in Islam where i fast for the whole month. I eat early in the morning and just as soon as sunset and thats it. I can not stop doing this because it is in my religion so i am just askin is there anyone who has any advice for me to help this reduce the effect this fast will have on my metabolism. People have told me that if you fast your body goes in to starvation mode and your metabolism goes very slow. So is there anyway i can reduce the affect, or if not something that will help me quickly get back to a fast metabolsim. Thanks any advice or comments will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Imran

No cheating? No popping supplements inbetween meals?

I've never heard of a fast where you eat two full meals a day. Doesnt sound like fasting in my sense of the word.

Your body won't go into starvation mode if you eat enough at each meal. But bulking up twice a day instead of eating many small meals will slow your metabolism down and have other detrimental effects if you don't get everything you need at each meal.

Keep your activity low... good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Yeh this is how my fast goes i do not fast for 24 hours straight or anything like that but i do fast from sunrise til sunset. So they are the only times i am able to eat inbetween i am not allowed to eat anything at all and not even able to drink water during this time. Its all in my relgion and the rules of my fast. So is there anyfood that i should eat that will help my body stop going into starvation mode. And i thought carrying on with your exercise would be better than not doing it. And by that i mean after the fast is done like after sunset.

just eat plenty of proteins and carbs at each meals cause the carbs will get stored adn during the day when you get hungry it will start using that up

I know what this is. anyway, on your last meal before the fast each night, you'll want to eat slow digesting foods. for carbs your lookin at OAT's, for pro's it will be casein you can order this online is a powder, for fats go for all natural peanutbutter. also cottage cheese has an abundance of casein in it. so I would eat a full cup of oats, a full cup of cottage cheese/3 large scoops of casein powder and, 4-5 TBS of all natural peanutbutter. on the peanutbutter look on the ingredience and if it has hydrogenated oils don't get it. well this will keep you fed for the longest time.

the peanut butter might also be in the natural section of a store. and basicly eat thoes 3 things till your full.

Get a slow burning probolic/anticatabolic shake liek what MHP sells. there is a guy on ebay that will sell them to you for a third the market price and he is not going to run out any time soon. I haave used this stuff for about eight monthes now and can safely say that it is the best supplement investment I can make but for you I would call this a must. Also to make the most out of this I reccommend mixing it with whey and penut butter and milk (are you allowed thos in your faith?) the fast acting proteins will fuel the hungry muscles so that they spend the absolute lest amount of time in catabolism (muscle wasteing)

Hi everybody, my name is taz i am also going to be fasting. I wanted to clarify something being that from 5.30 am until 6.30 pm is the fast time. From 6.30 pm i can eat until 5.30 am so i have roughly 10 hours to eat. Is there any special foods you would suggest for me to eat if i was working out with cardio 1 hour prior to fasting e.g. 4.am

Probolic protein, long lasting protein such as in eggs and to a lesser extent soy but look for probolic long range protein supplements or night time protein supplement designed to feed the body for a longer period of time. Though if you are fasting I would really recommend you not do any cardio or if you really feel that it is completely neccesary keep it very short.
