Sport Fast foods

Sport Fitness
I'm going to admit, I get fast food, probably 2-3 times a week. These days, I have to, my mom won't go out to buy food, and refuses to.

So, I would like to know, what would be the best thing for me to get? I don't want a meal like... salad. I would like good food, but with nutritional value, mainly that has a lot of protein, and a fairly high amount of cals, but isn't greacy.

I know, pretty much every fast food is unhealthy, but what you recommend.

The problem with fast food places is that they have to keep their prices low. They buy the worst animals - (cows, chickens and pigs) that no other meat packer would even consider. The condition or age of the animal doesn't matter to them since they are just going to grind it up anyway, they are just looking for the cheapest animals. They also add fat to this concoction they grind for flavor and to get it to stick together. Even their fries have fat added before they get into the deep fryer. In the end it doesn't matter if you choose the chicken nuggets or the hamburger they are about equally unhealthy.

Do yourself a favor. Go down to your video rental store and rent the movie by Morgan Spurlock. I think once you watch this documentary you will work harder to find an alternative. Perhaps spending the money you would have spent at Micky D's at the grocery instead and learning to cook or befriending the local nerd who's mom cooks supper every night and showing up about their supper time. :D A guy I use to work with bought his groceries for his evening meal every day after work. Just a thought.

I've seen it many times. It's not that I WANT the fast food, really I don't. It's that, for 3 days, theres NO food in this house. If I wasn't forced to have fast food, I wouldn't. But it's healthier for me to eat fast food, than it is to have nothing.

Learn to cook, princess.

You don't seem to understand what NO food means. No food means the fridge is EMPTY, the WHOLE kitchen is EMPTY! I can't help it. I have constantly told my mom to buy more, but she just says "When I buy more, you just eat more, and it's gone too early.".

I cook my breakfast, my lunch, and meal when I get home, it's not that I don't want to cook. I gladly would. The point is. Me and my cousin eat ALL the food in the kitchen, and my mom is too lazy to go tot he grocery store, so she makes us get fast food.

When I say no food, I mean it, I'm not exagerrating, in any way.

That's "My cousin and me" :D

Now in all seriousness the statement,
so she makes us get fast food
does not compute. Where do you get the money for the fast food? Could you use the money you buy fast food with to instead buy items at the local grocery, carry them home and prepare them for yourself? Also did you know most towns have food pantries that will give you non-perishable food items with no questions asked?

I am not trying to beat up on you, just trying to give you ideas. :)

I have tried that. The only time she will settle with doing that is if I'm with her, and she doesn't have to go in.

My mom is an average, 55 year old, lazy as hell mom. I don't want to be rude by saying shes lazy. But really... She is... Normally she brings home food from after working, and just brings it home.

I'll definitely try to get her to bring me to the grocery store, to get healthier foods, but I will still have to settle with fast food, about once a week, when she gets it herself after work. Because once shes home, she WONT go out again.

Loads

How old are you? and do you drive? not to be obnoxious, but if your butt can get to a grocery store then you can eat a good meal for the same amount of money.

Like green suggested, I pass one on the way home from work, I will call my wife on the cell phone and we will discuss what we will have for Dinner. I will pick it up, usually under $20.00 for a few items and we can get a few meals out of it. The say when you go to the grocery store, just walk around the perimiter and that all the junk is in the center aisles, which I agree with.

I have three young kids, and they want MCD's all the time, I usually say no, but sometimes I give in, I would eat a McFlury before I eat their burgers and fries, after seeing that Supersize program, they really do market to Children. I rather bring my kids to Toys R Us to buy a $20 toy then that stuff.

Skip the food, alot of the grocery stores already have food made for you, Soup, Salads, Sandwhiches, Roasted Chickens.

It is all about effort, I didn't want to do cardio yesterday, i have a chest cold, but I did it anyway...adapt and overcome. Motivate you mom to bring you to the grocery store, and you make dinner for you and her.

this just doesnt make sense. how old are you?

if you can get to a fast food place im guessing you can get to a proper shop.

its cheaper to buy proper food, and if you're at all serious about training you have to learn to prepare and cook for yourself.

i understand its hard eating well etc when the people around you just arent interested - but they'll get used to it. do what YOU need to do, and you may find it eventually rubs off on people. i live with parents and brother and i have my own freezer stuff now, and they're used to seeing the big tubs of whey mix around, but i still get the mickey taken out of me.

still, i can run faster and longer, and look a lot better for it.

Bingo! Alot of people have come hear complaining about lack of food or what their parents provide. Let me tell you if you were getting into that kitchen and cooking healthy meals for everyone to eat i seriously doubt their would be any complaining. Also in this day and age there aren't many places where you aren't at least in a five min bike ride from a store. From where i live there is 6 grocery stores in a five min bike ride from me. Now granted i know that isn't for everyone but still walk to the store, ride a bike to the store then cook for you mother who works hard at a job. You may think she is lazy but i wouldn't insult the hand that feeds you, do something for her AND yourself.

I can't find the link but there was another one of a guy on a forum that did McDonalds for a month. He kept meticulous records, including workouts and he managed to lose some weight eating McDonalds. His trick was the 'calories in, calories out.' He simply got a calorie value for all the food and tracked his calores, and he ate under his maintenence calories that were needed.

Go to the grocery store, go to a fast food place. Just be responsible for what you eat. Obviously a chicken sandwich without mayo and half the bun is going to be healthy for your than a large fry and coke.

If you have money to go to McDonalds, you have money to go to the grocery store.

You can make up excuses all day long, or, you can spend that effort on following our solutions.

if all else fails, call CPS and tell them your mom is starving you.

At some point, you won't live there, and will have to fend for yourself 24/7. Will it be fast food 3x a day then?

Supersize me is a terrible example of making healthy choices at fast food establishments. It was excessive. There is ALWAYS an option. And to tell you the truth, it's better than going to a regular place where there's no nutrition info posted. At least you know exactly what you're eating. Of course cooking for yourself is the best choice, but if it's not possible, at least you can have the comfort of knowing what's in your food. Believe it or not, McDonald's uses the best products available. The same you would buy in the grocery store. The burgers are 100% beef, no fillers. The eggs are real, and they use Kraft cheese. Maybe it's not organic whole foods, but eating out anywhere rarely is. They're also really good at special orders. You can get a side of eggs, english muffin, low fat yogurt, grilled chicken, don't be afraid to ask for what you want. Look at the menu as a list of ingredients to make your own meal, not set meals to choose from. Sodium is high in fast food, though, so up the water intake. And it's always hard to come by quality complex carbs, but you can make it work. Also, Wendy's has the baked potato, which a lot of bodybuilders incorporate into meal plans, and a small chili is 210 cal with 7 g of fat ... lots of beans for fiber and protein. And a small soft chicken taco at Taco Bell is 190 cal with 7 g fat.

Don't get me wrong ... this should only be a default if you want to reach yor goals. Best of luck to you.

Man I worked at McDonalds as a summer job. I certainly wouldn't say that the ingredients I saw were the same as what I can pick up at a grocer/market ;)

Suppose its a good way of seeing how quick salt will stop your heart...

how long ago did you work there? and what exactly about the products looked so different? just curious, i worked there as well ....
