Fandangos Log

New Year...new goals. It's that simple.

I'm totally amped about this year. I have been preparing myself for the start of my new game plan. I have my journal ready to go, I'm going to weigh in New Years day and check in with the scale every 30 days. While I'm not entirely worried about weight, I do suspect my goal will allow me to drop some 10 to 15 pounds around my belly area...perhaps a bit more. I'm merging in more forms of cardio....more track running, more trail running and I am even playing on a basketball team. I have moved my home gym around a bit to give it a differant feel....to keep things new. While I do not have any current photos of me now with my shirt off, my description will be accurate. I stand 6 foot tall, and currently weigh in at an even 190 pounds. My chest has soften a bit and near my nipples it sticks out a bit more then it should or will ever do so again. My belly is not big by any means, but I have this little "roll" right along the bottom that sticks out about an inch, if that. I want it flat..a seamless transition from my stomach to "lower" down. I have the slightest spare tire....standing up right you don't see it so much. It's when i sit down that I can feel the excess weight here as it pushes on my pant tops. All of the above issues will be resolved this year and I will provide photos every 30 days(I hope to any way). No details on my regime just yet, I want to see if it works. I think it is a strong plan and as I said....I'm amped.

You'll do it, Donnie. I have every confidence in you. :)

I'm a week into my new game plan. Feeling really good about what I am doing, and what I am not doing for that matter. I did have one rather crappy surprise....

I bought a new digital scale last week and according to this one, I weigh in a little under 200. I was thinking I came in at an even 190 according to me old "needle" scale. While my weight it what my weight is...it did make me feel as if I had let myself go more then I had thought. I'm in good shape and will acheive my goal.....of this I am sure. But, it was a little bit of a blow to the gut right at of the gate.

On the other hand, my interval training is feeling really good. I have noticed already the sense of "slimness" in my sides. Just from doing crunchs, leg lifts and oblique crunch/twist. I come off the threadmill dripping in sweat then head to the eliptical for about 10 minutes with the resistance all the way up. Needless to say that when I am done...I am beat, and bad. But, it feels good...and will continue this pace for another 3 weeks. Then it gets harder for 2 more weeks. Then 2 weeks giving it absolutely everything I have.

We will see.

Stay focused. We are here to help you. Congrats on the new journal! If you have any questions feel to ask! I will check back to see how you are doing, my friend.

Keep tough. Be mentally and physically strong!

I sincerely wish you the best in all that you do in life and within fitness,

Chillen

Thanks dude.

Last night was heavy chest night. I racked up 4 45 pound plates on the bench press. Did 4 sets of 8, not with ease by any stretch, but my adreneline was pumping hard so I was able to get through it without issue. I have always been weak when it comes to the incline barbell press...and last night was no exception. I put 2 35 on and was unable to finish my second set of 8. So, I took off the 35's and put 2 25's on and made it through. 4 set's of incline dumbells(pushed 60's) and then 4 sets of flate bench dumbell pushes(feeling weak, and was lucky to push 60's here). I then went to the decline bench and did 4 sets of 8 with 2 35's and 2 25's on the barbell. Some how I reached down, deep and found the strenght and kept pushing. I'm not sure what happen, but I got a surge of energy when I was done with the decline. Which is great, becuase I still had dips and peck deck flys to complete....and I did so. At this point I was feeling like jello, and wasn't sure if I could even press up some 20's at this point....but I still had the cable cross over to do. That right there, my friends, completlely ripped me apart. The burn was intense, but so sweet at the same time. At that point I was beat, and waited till later in the evening for my cardio...which was a good call.

Sorry this sounds all random....I'm just thinking out loud here. :drooling1:

Worked on legs last night...I wont bore you with the details on this one. Legs were on fire when done.

One sign of my desire to make substainal gains here was shown to me last night...and it felt great. After my leg workout, I returned home from the gym. To many new members there and didn't want to wait for a threadmill or eliptical. Once I am home it begins to rain, and rather hard. But damn to I want to go for a run. The temperture is about 50 degrees, so not very cold by any means, but it is very windy. I put my gear on, lace up my shoes and head out....no issues with the cold rain and wind. Ran for about 45 minutes. Found it to be really nice having the wind out there.....when I ran into the wind the resistance was a nice "extra" to have for pushing myself. I was soaked when done. I must admit, I felt a little silly when a car would drive by and I am out there running...but this it made it clear, to me, just how dedictaed I am to this program. Cold rain....windy....who cares...I have a job to do.

On a side note. Monday I worked my chest out heavy. I was hurting pretty bad yesterday...that good kind of hurt ya know. Well, while sitting in the office I wanted to use my resitance band to get my blood flowing....I was bit hesitant to do so becuase of how sore i was. But I did it any way. I can not tell you how good it made my muscles feel to pull them out and get some blood pumping to them. I simpyl used the band to pull on the muscles, and within a short period of time the pain was cut roughly in half. Not sure if it was the pulling of the muscle, or the blood pumping throughout my body. Either way, maybe consider useing..or buying....your band to help the post workout blues we have from time to time. It worked for me.

Haven't checked in for a bit....

It's an amazing thing. I have not weighed myself since the first of the month...on purpose....but I can feel that I have slimed down. I can see it also....my pants fit a more loose and more shirts hand more freely. While my chest hasn't really increased(ok maybe a bit, but...), the pump that I am getting right now is ridiculous by my standards. before, I was lucky to get a burn, even though I was working hard and pushing a moderate amount of weight using the appropriate technique. Now, I get a carzy burn and can see my chest flare up....it's amazing what a good "plan" can do for you. One part of my body that was always neglected is my back. Words can not express how pumped my back feels. Doing all the fee weight stuff is great, but burning it out with a resistance rope is some serious stuff. Sitting at my desk I can make a burn in my back muscles that rival that of some of the free weight stuff...I can't do it any justice trying to explain it beyond that. My tries feel ripped, thou they are hardly massive. My energy is strong and my will to succeed wih my plan is solid and in place.......

Not now...

I am racking up 2 45's and 2 35's on an olympic bar.....I'm figureing that comes in about 195 with bar. I'm doing 3 sets of 8 with that, becuase i am lifting by myself. I am going right to heavy dumbell press after the bench press....pushing up 90's right now. Monday is my heavy chest day, with Thursday being my light, more rep day. For me this seems to be a great combonation.

Funny thing.....I stink at chin ups. I'm lukcy to rip 20 of off

The interval traning is the chit. No doubt about it...at least it is what I needed to see some, and to feel some, gains. My size 34 waist pants are a bit loose on me almost 4 weeks into the new year. I haven't weighed myself...on purpose...but can not wait for the 1st of February to get here so i can step on th scale and see what it reads. I'm going to guess and say I have lost in and around 10 pounds..plus or minus a pound. I feel more lean and I can see the differance in my gut already...no doubt about it.

My lifting has changed, too. I seem to be lifting a bit more weight, but I loose energy big time when it comes time for that last rep and I think I get a little lazy with my technique and cheat a bit. Doesn't matter what I'm doing....I start off strong then weaken out a bit. Not sure what the issue is here...I don't feel tired...just don't have the strenght to finish out cleanly. I do one heavy day and one lite day...even the lite days where I do 2 extra sets and 4 more reps per set I get worn out. But, i'm going to keep pushing. No doubt it is working, I can see my chest has become more defined in just this past 4 weeks.

Will keep working hard.

I think my journal is the most boring one going :bncry:

Last night was my heavy chest night. Not sure what it was, but man I felt strong last night. Went through me bench press work, then came to my dumbell work. Normally, I pick up the 80 pound dumbells and whip out 4 sets of 8 presses, then 2 sets of dumbell flyes on the flat bench. But last night was differant. I picked the 80's up, but they felt light. So I got back up and walked over to the dumbell rack. The 100's just kept looking at me...almost taunting me. So I grabbed them. I remember how it felt when I turned the dumbells upright into the "press" postion.....and seeing those hunnert's hanging over my chest. Damn was that cool looking....and damn was this some serious weight. Now, I will say, I didn't do a full set of 4 at 8 reps. I did two sets of 8 and then 2 sets of 5. It was heavy...very heavy....but man what burn.

I'm not feeling it yet.....but, I can tell I will. :SaiyanSmilie_anim:

Been awhile since I have updated this page. Been awhile since I could come hang out here. Hope everyone is doing well.

Well, folks. I gotta tell ya. Two of the best things that have ever happen to me from a training stand point: Interval traning(various forms) and the Abs Diet Nutrional Handbook. I could go on and on about them...but I won't. For me, they were the keys to driving forward and making the key chnages in my routine to push me that much more.

I am now a lean 185 pounds. I haven't done the math to see how much it is I have lost...but I wasn't really focused on a number. That's not true really...I had an idea of where I wanted to be...but.....

Each week I do things differantly. I run at differant times of the day and at differant "levels" each time. Running the trails near me is one of the most enjoyable means to stay fit and to just have fun. Again, I won't bore you with the particulars...but my chest is cut, my arms are bigger and my back is defined. The only thing I am still working toward is a little more belly fat off the bottom and a little around the sides. It's minimal, but nothing that another month or so won't elimanate.

On a side note. I bought some of the ugliest Puma running shoes I have ever laid my eyes upon. White with bright yellow and green accents. But these things are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had! I walked onto the track the other night and this other dude who was running up there said to me," I hope you can run with shoes like that". A little laugh followed.

Ya....I can run:SaiyanSmilie_anim:

Grats on the progression! I look forward to being able to run again. As it stands now I can barely knock out a mile. Far cry from my days of bolting out the door at midnight and just running for the hell of it.
