Sport Falling Behind?

Okay I normally eat 3000 calories a day at a break down of 40/30/30 (c/p/f) for my bulk, which is 300g/225g/100g. For 99% of the time I keep up with these numbers, with exceptions to cheat meals, although I keep the same ratio just switching up foods different to my normal diet. There are rare occassions, however, due to complications and time issues that I cannot get in my 5 meals and I have to sadly resort to sometimes 3 or 4 meals.

3 or 4 meals would mean i would have to eat roughly 750-1000 calories per meal which defeats the purpose of eating multiple meals throughout the day. Now, my question is, is it better to eat what i need (3000 cal.) for the bulk or to fall short and eat less for the day, on days where I can only get 3 or 4 meals in.

Now, mind you that this only occurs maybe twice a month or less, so I don't feel as if there is a huge impact, but I would like to know which direction to take just incase this happens. Also, eating 600 calories per meal for 5 meals makes me feel sort of bloated depending on the foods, but do you guys think it would be better to go with 6 meals (that's a little hard to be consistent with) or stick with 5 and wait to get used to it? I would appreciate any references to any readings or references. Thanks!

Eat when you can, always eat more if you know you can't eat later. This is true for cutting or bulking. Getting those nutrients to the muscle is number one on importance. So if you have to eat 1000 calories in one meal, when then so be it especially if this is on a rare occasion. When can get it broken up but in a hitch, feed big.

I'd try to get the calories in if you can find a way...even if its just an extra scoop of whey post workout.

the body will be more likely to keep adding muscle when the calories don't dip.
but a couple days a month isn't a big setback either.

Exactly, try to eat consistently, but I would come to the conclusion that cramming in those calories to get that daily requirement would be better than letting it slide, but don't make a habit of it.
