faemuse's Journal

Background:
Was always overweight when I was growing up. Didn't really notice it when I was younger, but then when I reached the teen years, it became more obvious. Exercise and I have had an on again off again relationship since then. At my largest I had 45 inch hips, 35 inch stomach, and 32 inch waist. I started running, though not eating right, just running. In about 6-8 months I got my hips down to 41 inches. I continued working out on and off, struggling with depression, some days not even getting out of bed and missing too much school. I tried pulling my life together, and was lead to a few difficulties with my family. At 18 I fought my depression, went back to school and graduated with a diploma a year late. Starting eating healthier, and working out everyday. Didn't see any major changes in my weight though. A year later I started running everyday, though I went back to eating badly after moving back into my parents house. However I found out that running on the treadmill did help me, because I went from 145 to 126, and 2 inches off my hips. I haven't been as active recently.

Last month I started working out again. I don't own a scale so I can only track my measurements at the moment with my measurements.
My measurements last month were(In inches):
waist 27
hips 39
stomach 34
chest 32

My statistics
22 Years old
Female
4' 11"
Weight ?
Body fat percentage ?
However current measurements(in inches):
Waist: 25
Stomach: 28 1/2
Hips: 37

Goal:
Stomach: Flat
Waist: err... its fine how it is now I think. If it gets smaller that fine too.
Hips: originally 36, but now I'm wondering if perhaps smaller like 34 would be better for my height?

Exercise routine: 42-45 minutes of Tae bo, then 20 minutes of stomach targeting or lower body workout.

Diet: Mostly Cambodian and Vietnamese food with the occasional spaghetti Thursday. About 2-3 cups of rice, very little meat, and lots of vegetables.

My health is actually not very good right now, and I think it might be causing me to be bloated. Before my current health issues my stomach was about 26 1/2 inches and waist 23 inches. This increase occurred in one weeks time, so I feel very disappointed in myself. To summarize whats going on with my health: last week I had flu-like symptoms, which somehow turned into a bladder infection, and now since then I still have constant but dull stomach pain -_-' It has made it so that I am not able to do my usual work out(Turned from 1 hour to 30 minutes, and unable to do certain exercises) because the stomach pain goes from dull to severe knife stabbing like pain. If it doesn't go away in a week I plan on seeing a doctor.

The reason I'm a bit confused about what to set for my goal is because of my height and body type, I appear to be bigger than what I am. I fit into size 5 and some size 4 pants at the moment. My self esteem is really low, so I'm trying to improve that. In fact I tried sharing my results with my friends, but I wimped out. Easier to share with strangers I suppose. For the most part no one seems to have actually realized I've lost weight, but guys are being nicer to me..which is kinda..weird. Umm really want to try and build up my self-esteem, because even though I have lost 2-3 dress sizes, I still look in the mirror and think I look the same, and my confidence is actually lower now that I have lose weight >__<"

People do notice, believe me, even if they don't tell you. I lost a stone and a half and there was no response from people until I let it be known that I was actively trying to get fitter. I guess people see it as impolite to just pop up and say 'oh, hi. You're not looking as...um...fat as you were last week' ;)

I'd have to agree with Ri... people probably are noticing, I think people just don't want to say anything because it makes it sound like they thought you were fat before.... I honestly wouldn't wait a week to see your doctor... if you're in that much pain, you should probably have yourself checked out sooner rather than later.
