Extremely Low Respiratory Endurance

Hey guys.

Getting straight to the point, I'm quite well involved in Tricking and Break Dancing. It's not that hard, strength, power, and flexiblity aren't a problem for me.

HOWEVER, I have VERY low endurance. Even after a little routine, I'm breathing heavily and can feel energy lost in my legs and arms. This doesn't present a problem for doing individual moves in either sport, however while doing a series of combos or footwork steps, it becomes a VERY big problem.

I had asthma when I was younger. I haven't had any asthma related symptoms for around 6-7 years.

To that end, does anybody have any advice for endurance/respiratory training? Or have an idea of any exercises to do for it? Thanks, your help is much appreciated.

I also do breakdancing, what you need to do is throw in some HIIT cardio into your routine to build up your VO2 intake. Try doing a steady state moderate cardio 2 days a week and HIIT cardio 2 day a week. Make sure you are compensating calorie wise if you are worried about losing weight.

good luck with the bboy.

Oh and I also post at bboy.org, honestly you aren't going to find many good answers there about fitness as the bboys there not very known for good diets and training routines. Stick around here for those kinds of questions.
