I just jumped back on the weight loss wagon and i realized my never-used spritzer wish-bone dressing expires TOMORROW

do you know/think it's okay to use it? at least for up to a week after the expiration date?

also, while i have this thread going

has anyone heard of the healthy energy drink zipfizz??? any comments about it?

thanks

Expiration dates are usually under-estimated in my experience. I regard all printed dates as "best by" dates. I've had "expired" milk many a times without a problem. If it smells fine and there are no chunks in it, ill drink it.

One thing I wouldn't mess around with though is expired can food.

I think you should be ok with the salad dressing, especially seeing how you haven't even opened it.

Yeah I wouldn't be too worried about it for a week or so. After that, I'd toss it. That's the thing I hate about cooking for one, I always have to eat my perishables FAST.

Maybe it's just me but I have a phobia about eating/drinking things past their expiration date. I only buy what I know I am going to use to avoid running into expiration dates.

IT HAS BEEN OPEN JUST USED ONCE OR TWICE

well it "expires" today, and i tried it today, and it's fine.

i guess i'll keep using it until 1) it smells funny 2) it tastes funny 3) gives me a bad woohoo

I'm the same with a lot of things, especially meat and dairy, but then that could be because I've drunk sour milk too many times accidentally.

But if the dressing hasn't been opened then I don't see the harm in using it for a little while, unless it smells funny of course.

The expiration date that appears on packaged food is confusing to a lot of people. Is food still secure to consume on that date, or somewhat after that date? Let's think about saving cash by comprehending what that means
