I started a diet around Christmas. I was really focused and was doing a moderate amount of exercise. I was pretty successful for a while. But I got a little too focused and did a little too well. At a point a few weeks ago I realized I was doing a few things really wrong. Firstly, I wasn't really eating any carbs. I never planned on that happening. It just sort of happened. And I was having way too few calories. So I went form losing 2-3 pounds/week to all of the sudden 5 pounds in one week. (I'm age 39, male, 5'8", started at 268lbs). I sort of had a panic over that, because that's way too much. I sat down and looked at what I was consuming and it was way too few calories. I probably got to the point where I was at 800-1000 calories some day. Not good.
So I abruptly re-introduced carbs and over the past several days have gotten myself up to 2000-ish calories/day. Of course, I gained a pound in past week. I don't really care about that at the moment. What I do care about is that every meal is an adventure. Sometimes I feel fine after eating, other times I feel awful. No nausea or bowel issues, but I feel like my head is all wonky. Sometimes I feel like my heart is pounding, but I take my pulse and blood pressure, and everything seems well within normal. But I really feel awful. Anyone have any experience with this? And, more importantly, when is this going to stop?
It should be noted, I did see a doctor recently, got a very thorough physical and a ton of blood work, and everything is normal. But I really want me body to re-adjust to 2000 calories/day because this is very disruptive. I'm still exercising and ALWAYS feel great during and after, but this way I feel after eating sometimes has got to stop.
