Exercise Suggestions???

I live in Texas, where it's EXTREMELY HOT and I hate to exercise outside because of the heat (which pretty much excludes walking, jogging, etc). I'm a poor college student, so I can't afford a gym membership. Additionally, the only place that I really have to exercise is in my room, which has about a 4X8 area of space. What kind of exercise can I do for cardio? I've thought about buying some exercise DVDs or tapes, but I'm fairly certain that most of them require more space than that. The only other thing I can think of would be some sort of Pilates workout, but are there any kinds of Pilates workouts that can be used for cardio or weight loss?

PLEASE HELP WITH ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS!!!

I wouldn't recommend Pilates for cardio. It is pretty slow paced and is very good for toning, especially your abs. It won't get rid of the fat on top of the ab muscles though... for that you need cardio. Most colleges have gyms that are free for students. You should check your school out to see if it has one. I'm a poor college student too, but 3 days a week, I go to my school's gym after class.

dance baby dance.. turn on the music and dance... go go dancers n the 70s danced in a cage - you've got plenty of room in your space then. :D

One suggestion I have is to check and see if there is a community center int he town you are living that is open to the public. Often they might have a couple pieces of equipment (treadmill, etc) or just let people walk around the basketball court.

You can get a decent aerobic workout right there in your room. There are loads of various aerobic moves that you can do in a small space.I've put together lots of routines like that. You can do a combo of low and high impact to really get moving. Walking and jogging in place, jumping jacks, jump squats, side steps, walking in place combined with various arm movements, etc. If you do that a few times a week and get a pilates dvd to do a couple times a week you'll have a decent workout!

you can get a pretty affordable treadmill at sears or walmart type places anywhere from 200 - 500 dollars. most of them also fold up for easier storage in a small area. also, bosu balls are GREAT exersise and take up very little room. get a great mix cd of your fav workout songs and your good to go!

Stairs. I would suggest stairs. I think you should have stairs in the building you live in. Work them - this would give you the best cardio work out. I would also suggest to get few reputable magazines or check on line for more ideas of exercise on the stairs. You can run up and down, sideways, for exapmple. The main thing is motivation, everything is in your hands. There is an old saying in my country: "bad dancer will blame his balls for his bad performance". Remember - no excuses. :)
