exercise ball

I want to start working out from home, I already ordered my exercise ball medicine ball and 2lb dumbbells amd a jumping rope. I mainly want to work out using my exercise ball. That is why I am here to see if anyone can suggest videos from youtube of what exercises should I perform, how many times a week. Can I work out all body part one day? And things like that.

Main main goal is to build muscle on my thigh, butt, and tone my arms and belly. I am on my healthy weight, just need to work on my love handles to see if I can reduce them. I do not want to look super skinny, just toned. My main concern is my thighs and butt, which I want them to look bigger. I also started running.

My diet is healthy, however I do not eat a lot, so I guess I should start drinking protein shakes. I would like to know if anyone recommends any brands, etc? And should I drink before or after, I've heard different things from people so I am a little confused now.

Thanks for your time, and hope to get some help!!!!

There is a link on the left of the screen for "FREE Exercises" -- there are several listed for the Exercise Ball.

Squats and lunges are a GREAT exercise for thighs and butt - you can do these with or without weights, with or without the ball. If you want to use the ball, place it behind your back against the wall. For Squats, stand with feet shoulder width apart. Drop hips towards the floor, ultimately getting a 90º angle in the hips and knees (you may need to step your feet out from the wall a bit). For lunges, same ball position, take one foot almost to the wall behind you, again, come down to ~90º in both hips and knees.

For the best hamstring exercise with the ball (in my opinion), lie on the floor on your back, with your heels on top of the ball. Lift your hips off the floor and roll the ball towards your butt. You can do this with both heels on the ball, or lift one leg off.

If you want to see any results from weight lifting, you will definitely need heavier than 2lb weights!!

You can work out multiple muscle groups on the same day, you just do not want to work out the same muscle group two days in a row - so make sure to give them at least a days rest in between.

Diet is HUGE for reducing "love handles" and "belly". Make sure you are eating 'clean', but getting enough calories for the amount of working out you are doing.

I don't know a lot about the different protein shakes, but there are posts you can search for to give you that information.

Good luck.

Thanks BasketLady for the great info.

By havier you mean 10lb or more? I just want to tone my arms, not looking to increase it, that is why I chose the 2lb, but I might end up buying havier weight, please let me know what you recommend!!!

Thanks again,

You need to choose a weight that challenges you. An easy guideline is - you should be able to do 10-12 repetitions with the last couple being pretty tough (without losing form). If you have a weight that you can lift all day without getting fatigued - it's too light!

You may need different size weights, as you will probably be able to lift more doing say, a side row (big back muscles) vs. a bicep curl or overhead press. Do not cheat yourself - if you are going to take the time to workout, make sure you are getting benefit from it!
