Exercise after dental work.....

Ok, now this is weird and I would love to get some other opinions.

I had to go to the dentist yesterday. It was a long time coming and really wasn't as bad as I had feared. I got a great cleaning and checkup, but also had a wisdom tooth pulled. Ouch.

Now maybe I am just getting too hard on myself, I am not sure, but yesterday was pretty much a nightmare weight loss wise. I only got in around 1200 (if that) calories and I was just too out of it and sore to do much other than grunt and sleep. Thats normal.

But my dentist is convinced that I shouldn't do any form of exercise for at least 48 hours, possibly longer. Yesterday ok, but today I feel the need to get moving. He is concerned that by getting the heart rate up it could cause excessive bleeding from the tooth hole. I have never heard of that before.

Any ideas?

I am slightly amused with myself for even being concerned about this. In the past I would have found 2 "free days" a blessing and would have loved having an excuse not to workout. Now however I feel like crap because I can't get up and moving when I want to.

Hi Sirant

I just had two wisdom teeth pulled too, but I think the best advice is to take the two days off. If you are too antsy to relax, a really slow leisurely walk would be good.

Sirant, being someone who has had almost every dental act in the world done to them trust me when I say this.

Rest.

There are also physical occurrences that would impede your healing time if you exercise. Maybe instead of doing anything vigorous though you could focus on some solid stretching and flexibility routines for any corrections you may need. That is always what I do when I am out of commission or taking a rest week.
