Okay. I've been eating this way for a while and it feels healthy, I seem to be managing my weight, but I'd like some input from anyone who may know more about this stuff than I. I don't have an estimate or exact amounts but I know what reasonable portion sizes are. Here's what I ate today:
Breakfast:
Bowl of whole grain Cheerios (off-brand) with sliced banana & soy milk
1 hard-boiled egg
Small glass of orange juice
Lunch:
Bean burrito (boiled pinto beans)w/mozzarella cheese, whole grain tortilla
Yoplait Light cherry yogurt
Snack:
Low Fat Triscuits with hummus
Dinner:
Stir-fried (in olive oil) veggies and tofu
Brown rice
Cottage cheese
Snack:
Apple slices with peanut butter
If the tofu and soymilk didn't give it away, I'm a vegetarian (no meat, fish or poultry, but eggs and dairy). I feel like I'm getting a good balance of whole grains and protein with every meal, but sometimes I feel like I need to eat more because I'm hungry ALL of the time. Should I throw in a snack between breakfast and lunch? After breakfast this morning I was counting the seconds to lunch about two hours later. Night time is difficult for me as well because I stay up really late (usually 3 a.m.) so I'm always trying to find something that will be filling but healthy so I can at least go to bed without being hungry.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
