Evidence that Whey powder will not damage my fragile little body haha

Hey guys and gals.

My mum had some rather unfortunate information given by a person who wasn't qualified to give it, and basically it made her think Whey powder was the devil's sin. This wasn't helped when I broke my 22 year old cousin's arm in an arm-wrestle and my family put together the conclusion that it was a result of taking protein powder. So anyway. The other day I bought a tub and my dad and mum (now not so bothered) took it off me, and have said I can have it back if I prove it won't damage me.

So basically: I'm in Year 11/10th Grade. Play lots of sport. 6ft, 160lbs, lifting a few times per week. I just need some good links stating that whey is good for a 15/16 year old to take.

So if anybody could help me out I'll rep them up. (sorry for lack of rep, I don't contribute to this site enough to say the least).

Merci.

I can only find studies finding increase in lean mass etc.. I dunno if there are a lot of new studies trying to determine if it is safe since that was determined a long time ago.

That your parents are taking it away from you is ridiculous, do they have any proof that it is harmful? Protein powder isn't more harmful than normal protein found in regular food.

There might be a problem finding studies with subjects under 18 though.. that's the problem, not a lot of studies are done with young children as subjects for obvious reasons..

Long way from curds and whey…

The origin of whey protein is found in the first phase of the manufacturing process of cottage cheese, namely the ‘curdling phase’. This is when bovine milk is separated into curd and whey, (the solid part and the liquid part respectively). The liquid part, namely the whey, is then dried and powdered.

Rather interesting normal process....

Educate your parents. Once they are, they will learn rather quickly that Whey Protein powder can have a place within the diet and will not harm the body. It is a healthy source of protein that can be beneficial.

Cheers guys. My dad let me take it today after my workout but he still wants to do research haha :-S

I've gained a good few lbs though in the past few weeks so it's all good :D
On the negatives, I think I may be very, very slightly alergic to milk? Although I doubt it. See I've been coughing recently, hopefully it'll all blow over as I've spent years drinking the stuff to no effect. Oh dear, I sound like a hypochondriac.

Anyway. Thanks a lot :)

haha thats something that my parents would do XD
i would have just told them that its just whey haha milk is like 80% whey protein so why are they worrying? its just protein lulz
