Essential Ingredients for a Post-workout shake including Whey Protein??

Hey I was just wondering what are the essentials of a post-workout shake?
I was thinking just

40g of Whey Protein Powder (2 scoops)
Malto Dextrin

But how much Maltodextrin, and can you get it in powder form in the UK??

Before a workout I have about 40g of Ultra Fine Scottish Oats with 1pint of skimmed milk in a shaker. Could I add anything to this?
 
1 scoop whey / 1 scoop dextrose

Or some food.

Prior to workout ingest protein and carbs.

You can also drink an energy drink like gatorade. 60 grams of fast acting carbs are more then enough.

Here I also would add 20 grams of whey.
 
if you decide to use gatorade, get teh powered stuff. it has the 'right' kind of sugar in it. the pre-mixed stuff is full of high fructose corn syrup which you don't want.
